Hi,

I just ordered an MG4 Trophy extended. My first ever new car.

I'm trying to work out if there is a dark mode for the infotainment system screen. I have asked my dealer (car... nothing else) whether the screen has a dark mode I can activate, as I don't like the light grey theme, and prefer the dark theme (as in the screen grabs attached). I was told no, the screen goes into dark mode at night, due to the light sensor and stays light grey during the day. Yet. a lot of images I see of the dark looking theme are actually shot during the day.
Can anyone help?

Mr M

It's worthwhile sitting down and going through all the screens you can find on the infotainment system, remembering that on some of them more stuff appears if you scroll down, just to see what's there. There are functions I don't even remember seeing. Various volume controls, screen brightnesses, all sorts. There is a setting to do what you want.

Oh, right. I see! You'll be fine. There are tutorials and stuff on the internet, although beware that software updates may have made some of the features a bit different.

If you want to ask whether or not the car does something you particularly want it to do, someone here will be able to tell you. But if you want some entertainment while you're waiting, start watching!

I'll find out soon enough I guess... in 3 to 5 weeks :)
Congrats ? you bought a great car!
You can make the infotainment screen go almost entirely black. (Not quite what you were looking for)
Swipe left on the Home Screen - tap settings
Scroll down - tap to turn off clock
Press home
Swipe down from top on empty screen pic no1
Tap - screen off pic no2
Screen goes black bar the thin icons at the top
Press home to recover.
I don’t think there’s a timer to switch back to black should you do something that activates a camera view.
Which is a shame - future update maybe?

Thanks for the replies guys.

Will, if you look at the 2 screens in my first post, your photo looks like the darker (bottom of the 2 images)) version I was wanting already. Do you have the R59 software version installed?

Swipe left and go to settings...
It's on the General tab...
Look for "Background Auto Switching" and switch it to dark.

I think these have been up for a while and are showing an early infotainment system, but they're still really informative.
It's not too old (11 months), as it has the "large button" air con screen instead of the earlier one with the tiny circles. Most settings should be the same though either way.
