It is 225 miles will take A roads instead of motorway for better milesI would suggest planning the route via Zap Map on the day of your trip, base this on your estimated mileage based on your driving style with the thought of giving yourself a safety not of 30 miles on the GOM, how many miles is your estimated long run?
Is it better to use motorway or A roadsHi Jeff, I would always recommend having a plan B. Pick a few chargers you can reach easily so that if one charger is broken it won’t put you out.
I would also try to keep the battery between 30% and 80% and aim for 100 miles between charges. Charging up is fastest up to 80%. Always use tethered double css plug. Maybe identify what networks you might use and download apps before travel.
Bit of advice would be to take your time on the motorway. Much better on battery life to travel at 60mph. Lastly, I think adaptive cruise control and mg pilot make motorway driving easier, you rubber band the speed of the car in front and the car freaking steers for you.![]()
Generally, if the distance is about the same, I go for the motorway because there is more likely to be smooth driving and the opportunity to slipstream. Is it better to use motorway or A roads
Blimey! How close do you drive behind someone on the motorway? You'd have to be right up their backside for any slipstreaming effect wouldn't you?the opportunity to slipstream.
I love the last paragraph about slip streaming it made me laugh...I’m happy to report that I’ve found it easy to average over 4 miles a kilowatt hour on motorways(60mph), a roads and city. Thats a comfortable 170 miles range at that power usage.
If your journey is 225 miles then one part charge half way would be more than enough. The eZS will do 140+ miles motorway no problem.
Slipstreaming does help somewhat if you’re sat behind a lorry punching through the air. Unfortunately the risk of death outweighs the savings on fuel. There’s a good myth busters episode where they cover it.
