Perhaps he could send you a photo of the letter so you can see who it's from?Hello guys.
Please forgive me if this as been posted in earlier posts, the thread is too big to read through it all.
I am writing this because an acquaintance of mine told me that he had a government letter last week for a safety recall of some MG 4's,
Mainly because of people getting locked inside and unable to operate the windows, hence the serious public safety, especially in an event of fire.
Have you received one too?
Oh ok - I didn’t know the car actually had a manually activated latch. I understand now. The manual latch should of course override the electronics, but if that’s the case and a window is smashed when locked a thief could manually open the door. There is, but the deadlock inactivates the linkage. The deadlock should never ever be apparent to the owner and should only be active when the car is locked while you’re outside it. This is the crux of the fault. The key is misread and the car goes into theft mode.
I'll let you know if he would do that.Perhaps he could send you a photo of the letter so you can see who it's from?
Did you try the lifting your bum out of your seat trick that seems to have worked previously? So, I nipped out to Morrisons for some shopping, stopped the car, tried to open door, door would not open, horn started sounding for what seemed like a lifetime, it stopped.....then after a few seconds of bliss it started again. All sorts of random people were looking at me and the car, wondering what on earth was happening. After about 10 minutes I decided to make the long journey to the back of the car, it was dark, scary (and now I know how those kids felt in that cave a few years back)! Finally I made it to the back of the car, scared, tired and cold, I made my escape. There was sort of a welcome party for me, including one man who was going to buy an MG4...heaven knows why he has changed his mind now, but after listening to my escape story he has.
The worst part of this is the fact that the horn sounds...it's as if MG wants the whole world to see as you make your escape....it's just so undignified!
Oh well, it goes in for the update next week now...does anyone know if it actually works?
Same happens with my Suzuki Vitara. I'm a regular GOM when we get out and "she" has left her key inside.?Not that it’s relevant- you could not remote lock my Yaris with the key inside the car - the system automatically unlocks the doors after you press lock. I know this system is entirely different but it shows there the car is aware of key inside.
