A small solar panel has been suggested but I am not sure if I need another for the EV battery as well, I assume the EV one is Lithium so not sure if it needs to be kept alive or if it will be okay.

There are so many variables I've not had to deal with before.

More to keep me awake.

I rang the dealer and got through to service, the company brain cell is off today so I've left it with them and hopefully, they will get back to me, his advice was to remove and tape up the neg cable, I asked about the EV battery and he had no clue so I'll wait and also appraise whether we want to use them for servicing.

To be honest pal, just treat it like you have always done.
True, there have been a few cases where people have come back off holiday to find the 12v flat, but as far as I can see, many, many, many (enough manys?) folk have come back, started up and gone home as normal.

Due to a flat 12V battery becoming a right P.I.T.A. I, along with a few other's have purchased a 12v Jump Pack which you can keep with the car.

There are a few posts knocking about and I will now try and find one for you to link to.....

Post in thread 'What have you bought for your Xpower this week ?' What have you bought for your Xpower this week ?

And where I keep mine...

I've not looked under the bonnet yet so not sure what is under there, what's that battery under the boot floor? is that the EV or Strarter battery if not where is the EV battery?

I assume the EV battery is a Lithium of some type and as such should last a very long time and go lower than a common lead acid.

Ah yes, forgot you had an MG3.
Sorry.
Your 12V will still be under the bonnet though? So the solution will be the same.
I wouldn't be concerned about the traction battery.
I ran a Toyota CHR for two years and never really considered its care.
No need.

Kev,

Your 12 Volt is in the wheel well. There is a lug in the fuse box under the bonnet to jump-start it if required or you can go straight for the battery itself.

The power pack arrived today according to my emails, no sign of it here though, AGAIN, why do they not read the delivery instructions?

Not a great place for the battery in case it goes flat unless you can open the boot with the key?
You can from inside   if you happen to have the key with you like ya do???

Nearly lost it again yesterday, I had the keys in my pocket and one of the other keys pressed the tiny button I think, anyway I am in the habit of checking to see if I dropped anything when I pull something out of my pockets, good job I wasn't over a drain, a very stupid design.

My point was that it will be quite difficult to get too, from inside the car.
Well it would wouldn't it?

Certainly more of a struggle than if you could just open the boot......
Unless you have an interior boot release?

We're back on Saturday after 3 weeks away, MG has still not advised on long-term storage, no more info on here either so it looks I'm going to be the road test dummy.

The annoying thing is if it had been a ICE car there is someone at home who could have run the engine for 30 minutes once a week, it's not an option on this though.

We're going away for 6 weeks on the 23rd. I'll report back in November when we return....
That'd be great Kev, as of today MG have no idea of what is the best thing to do, with the fiesta I just pointed it down hill and bump started it, a definite no no with these it seems.

Even their own manual is crap about how to check the battery level, it tells you it needs to be above 50% and bugger all else.

I'm away now for 4 weeks I asked the salesman what to do and he says just leave it. It will start up no bother. I'll watch for your next post

Update now I've had the chance to drive it properly.

She only drove it about 2.4 miles yesterday, 30% downhill 30% uphill approx so I assume the regen etc will cancel each other out + a bit more coming back home as you don't get something for nothing.

I drove it for about 12 miles, and most of the time it was in EV not HEV so that means to me that the EV battery is in good health, the only issue seems to be the brakes are not as effective after the layover, I'm assuming that they are cast iron and have a layer of rust and the regen means we haven't used the brakes enough to clean them up again, not sure about that.

Maybe turn off regen (or set to minimum (1)) for a short journey. You’ll have to then use the brakes more (instead of regen doing the braking) This should then clear any brake disc rust quite quickly.?
