Hi All,
Now that a cold spell has arrived, I wonder how you are finding the car in terms of driving, comfort etc.
I completed a 300km round trip the other day with a 6am start and temperatures of minus 2.5. Not extreme I know but enough to leave a few skittish patches here and there. In terms of window defrosting, the iSmart app threw up a disclaimer about checking local by laws etc. and wouldn't play ball. I hadnt time to play around with it, so I just went for the ice scrapper. The after market wireless Android Auto adapter was also playing up. The climate control in the car was miles better than my previous car (Clio), with the car staying nice and cosy and keeping the windows clear. The combustion engine was kicking in a lot and revving a bit higher, but travel was smooth. The tyres coped reasonably but I d still be wary of their ability so I drove in a manner to compensate for them.
The halogen lights on the SE were OK but not a patch on the leds on the Clio. A warning re the front facing collision avoidance etc. not being operative also flashed up on the screen, presumably because of some frost over the camera.
All in all, it was a comfortable place to be.

Freezing conditions, lovely warm steering wheel, lovely warm bum on heated seat. iSmart did its pre-warmup and demist job perfectly. I hope that the ZS Hybrid + I'm getting next Friday behaves the same.
The ZS will be on my list in a few years, along with the ES5, when the time comes for a change.

Early in the morning, with a centimeter of frozen snow,
In a few minutes the app warmed the environment and the ice was detached from the glass, in a few shots of the palette, they slid in large pieces on the ground.
Optimal.
Unfortunately, consumption, for short city courses, is twice the hottest period.
"EV" can only be seen by making longer paths.

Around 20 - 25 cm of snow fell last night and it was frozen in places/areas.
While I cleared the snow from the car with a broom, the interior heated up properly thanks to the app.
The roads were not cleared. Nevertheless, I had a safe driving experience, although I deactivated the Pilot, as it makes steering movements too jerky.
ABS super sensitive, but super effective.
Only problem: the folding mirrors stayed folded as it was frozen. 😁
I recommend to let them unfolded.

Consumption increases significantly at least on short distances.

I'm up and out for radiotherapy at 05:30, and the last few days have shown up the inadequate heating and ventilation. Who wants to sit in a frozen car being blasted by frozen air? The engine is very slow to warm up. I'm not impressed at all.

The heating isn't much good even when it does warm up, unless you set to Hi and the fan on 8, not impressed at all, my legs are cold and my head is on fire no matter what I do

And for good measure, I am being blasted by fumes from other vehicles, the recirculating option isn't working properly if at all, and I can't hear any flaps moving to open or close the fresh air vents.

This may be a Friday car.

Sorry to hear that Kev. I just set mine to clear the screen and then to auto after that at 24 degrees to start off. I ended up turning it back to 22 degrees later on. The only issue I had was that the ismart app would not go past a disclaimer over keeping an eye on the car if I wanted to pre-heat it.

My MG3 sleeps outside and recently, with the snow, I've had to start the engine.

I cleared the windscreen and rear window, took good care of the windscreen wipers, and removed the ice that had built up on the moving parts of the folded-down door mirrors.

I also cleaned the sensors (top of the windscreen, front and rear cameras, rear LIDAR sensors).

Finally, I used Ismart, SET THE TEMPERATURE TO 24° WITH THE APPLICATION, activated the air conditioning and switched on the seat preheating.

After an alert informing me that I had to be aware of what I was doing, I had a message about the activation for 10 minutes.

It wouldnt let me past the alert for some reason.

Good morning gian. I'm confused about the use of the iSmart app by yourself and other forum members. I have the app installed and it all works fine in that it scans the car and reports the various settings. However, when trying to set the heating I Can't find anywhere to set a temperature, turn on the heated seats or defrost the screen. The only options I have is Fan Blowing, HVAC on/off. I turned the heating on when the internal temp read 2 deg. It turned itself off after 10 minutes. The temp then read 5 deg. When entering the car I found the heating was turned Low with the blower on Auto. Any ideas would be helpful.

The tyres coped OK with the snow. I had a slide, but then drove up a hill with ease, behind a Renault Clio that was struggling. The MPG is taking a big hit, with journeys now as likely to be in the 40s, than over 50 mpg.

MG iSMART Connectivity (free for the first 3 years) allows you to activate the climate, in the characteristics (temperature 24 ° AUTO) set, the evening before, in the MG3;
the maximum time of 10 minutes is sufficient to
heat the interior of the car and consequently heat the windows,
allowing the detachment of the frozen snow,
with the help of a scraper.

Regarding the activation of the seat heating:
it is not possible from iSMART;
when you get into the car, they must be activated and they heat up immediately.

Hello and thank you for your message.

I can activate the heated seats from the Ismart app.

On the other hand, I'm surprised that the free service is limited to 3 years. Can you confirm this?

Telenor Connexion / KPN

***Traffico dati incluso:

iSmart Lite 50 MB/mese

iSmart 1 GB/mese

Servizi attivi fino a 3 anni dalla consegna. Costi di rinnovo disponibili tramite app iSmart. Servizio soggetto a limitazioni di copertura di connettività non imputabili a SAIC Motor Italy, SAIC, SMIL o MG.

So here's my answer: it's the internet connection service (hotspot inside the vehicle) which is free for 3 years and then you have to pay.

The ISMART application remains free for UNLIMITED use, as MG confirmed to me in a chat just now.

I confirm, I too
can activate the heated seats from the iSMART app.
but they heat up so quickly, that I have never used it;
you can also set the temperature.

Regarding the 3 years:
from the official MG Italia website, in the illustration of the features,
searching for (***) at the bottom of the page:
" *** . . . services active up to 3 years from delivery. Renewal costs available via the iSmart app . . . . "
so I deduce that it is free for the first 3 years, then there is the renewal, I imagine for a fee.

If it is unlimited: better for us.

I must have a different version of the iSmart app, I have no control over the heating that you describe.

I've just loaded the MG iSmart app again and, lo and behold, the new version has all the bells and whistles.
