Well, one may say MG is in a better position to jump to fully electric but really this is just wishful thinking.
To understand MG you first have to understand SAIC their parent company.
SAIC is owned by the Chinese State. It is not a private company. MG basically belongs to the Chinese Government.
The Brands exclusive to SAIC include Maxus, MG, Roewe and Yuejin. SAIC joint venture companies include Baojun, Buick, Chevrolet, Iveco, Skoda, VW and Wuling.
Now to most analysts virtually all the exclusive brands are doing better on the Chinese home market than MG and on the international market MG is struggling to compete with the joint venture companies.
MG is struggling so much so MG have had to now borrow a Roewe and stick an MG5EV badge on it to try and compete on the international market. That is how difficult things are for MG. Hiding behind wishful thinking will not change the facts and figures of true life.
And for thus claiming ZS EV has outsold all other car models in the UK in the last few months well that is just day dreaming. Have a look at what the data shows
No one is playing the ZS EV down.
It is a good car. We all choose well in buying it when we bought it. Now that we have it we have to optimize it's value and that is not done by concealing it's shortcomings. It is done by exposing them and challenging the manufacturers to provide a solution to at least the industry's basic standards.
Some may not agree with me but well it is always hard to deal with the truth but the earlier one deals with it the better one is placed to achieve better outcomes going forward.
