MG ZS EV Pre Heating

Yes - I agree - but don’t forget not everyone has a nice secure driveway for their car - that’s where a remote app is extremely useful.
Start car, turn on heater and heated seats, before exiting the car lower drivers window, exit car. Lock car from inside through open window and press button to raise window, the car is now locked and secure. When you return open as you normally do.

I always curse uder my breath when i am picking my grandaughter from school and all the cars are running on tickover with all the exhaust kicking all the visible smoke out.
Yeah - Funny how you become more sensitive to these type of thing when you get an EV !.
My wife is often heard saying :- “Look at the smoke coming out from the exhaust of that old van, how the hell do they pass the MOT ?”.
If you have the exclusive model, don’t forget to activate the recirc mode on the HVAC when outside the school !.
It will help you not to get the fumes in your car at least.
Tesla has a “Bio Defence” mode filter on their models !.
Bit O.T.T. for outside the school for 10 mins granted, but nice all the same.

Thats a good sequence ,i assume the window is anti pinch .

I go out in the driveway and turn the car on before I go in and finish my coffee and put warm clothes on my daughter, by then the car is comfy. The one thing I would like to have beside an App, is to be able to switch all the lights off. I wonder why the light stalk has an "OFF" Setting, but we can't turn it off ?

You can turn the lights to OFF by rotating the switch on the stalk ?.
The car will automatically turn on the head lights if the light level is poor, but if the head lights DO come on, reach inside and twist the rotary switch to the OFF position on the stalk.
This will turn OFF the headlights, and will only leave on the front DRL's on.
My car is parked almost right up to the garage door, so the front DRL's are really hard to spot anyway by anybody passing by.
Because there is no sound or smoke being kicked out, it is very hard to detect if the car is even powered up.
I love the ability to warm up the car in the winter time.
Got into this habit when I had my last car which was a PHEV.
The HV battery was small and using the heater to defrost the car in the winter, use to murder the range on the very small pack, but who cares !.
A small price to pay for getting my old bones into a nice warm car.
The heated seats are a must also, the vegan / false leather can be really cold on the "Peach" in the winter time.
Only 5 mins with the heater and the seats turned on, then you are good to go !.
The only negative I find with a electric heater, is that it does not hold any residual heat.
The minute you turn it off, the cabin starts to cool down almost straight away.
It is to be expected though I guess.
If you have an electric fire in the house it's great when it on, but the minute you turn it off, the heat dissipate's quickly.
It's one of them "Roundabout's And Swing's" moments again folks.

I noticed that this morning, you've got to have the heat switched on all the time otherwise it cools down very quickly.

I always keep my keys in one of the cup holders, when you take out the keys, they are freezing cold.
Even though the cabin is nice and warm.
With a PHEV the coolant from the ICE ( when the engine has warmed up ) provides heat to the cabin and therefore the electric heater is now doing nothing.

Pre- conditioning would be amazing. In the morning I've no spare time to do anything so being able to jump into a nice warm, defrosted car would be great. Not bothered about saving range, just comfort and convenience.

I do the same trick as you with the lighting. But mostly our car is reversed into the driveway (old habit off having an old EV without WES an backup camera) then I put on the parking light, that is the dimmest we can get. But I really miss that off is OFF with the light

I think some cars, Pre 2012, had an option to turn off DRLs, but since 2012, when they became a requirement in the UK, the option was removed.
