MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

The chinese have been known to understand the sicilian way of doing business ( im insulting two peoples in one shot there ) , perhaps it might be clever to drop down to the port and slip a little gift , you might be taking Chris from Southamptons silver ZS but sure desperate times yada yada yada :giggle:

Have had 2 new ford's and 3 kias now waiting for my zs ev I'm sure that cars are alicated to dealers after coming off the ship kia was the same told by dealer not built yet 2 days later be here next week think a few people will be getting a call soon as there are a lot of transporters docking this month ?

Hope you're right!

Fingers crossed folks. Just had the Ohme charger installed today and the Jag parked next to it in the driveway just doesn't look right! ?

One thing that threw me though was that the main house fuse is rated at 60A even though the fuse cover shows 100A. The charger has been de-rated because of this so the installers will report to the DNO so they can come and change it to 100A. Apparently it can then be brought up to speed remotely.
One to watch out for perhaps.

I owe you a big one if this happens ?

Just out of curiosity did you order from Summit Garage?
Yes I did
Same as me, I asked last week about delivery but didn’t get very far.
Same told me Rachel was on holiday this week so couldn't help me. Spoke on the 5th Jan and was told it was on shanghai docks waiting to be loaded. Durban highway docked today and viking sea is due in portbury on the 11th both vessels from shanghai. So keep everything crossed our cars are on 1 of them. If not next vessel comes on the 28th good luck?

I assumed that when you ordered a new car the dealer sent your specifications to MG and they allocated it a customer number ie. 1234567 . That was sent to the factory and they added it to the end of the queue. I can imagine that they spray a number of cars blue and they must shuffle the orders about then do the red ones. Then join the production line in numerical order. Unless I am wrong?

Don't think MG work like that. I think they build a batch of each model/colour then match to orders. The batch build/shipping method is what helps them cut costs.

That's why there are no optional extras like other manufacturers where you have select everything

When I was a contractor working in the Honda car factory in Swindon the cars went through in multiple colours according to the orders. I never saw red ones one day and blue another in batches, always just a line of random colours going along the lines.
That'll be because Honda build to order and have multiple options/configurations. Most car manufacturers operate this way but it's much more expensive.

Stray though I wonder how many cars per hour Portbury staff can unload. I bet its a slick operation anyone at Portbury send in a video (any makers cars) bet it would be a good fly on the wall program re the working of the whole of Bristol Docks or has there been one already? TV producers are fixated on the dire reality tv that they push out these days. Who watches that drivel?

BBC did one last week at Bristol/Portbury. We are England: "Down at the Docks - Bristol".

The lady they interviewed unloading cars seemed happy with her job of driving a car off (with white gloves) and getting a minibus back to the ship, repeat, all night!

I think it said something like 500 in 8 hour shift for the team, but don't quote me.
