As with any forum - there’s lots of chatter and some negative and challenging posts around the ZS EV - which is of course useful to have. I’m probably one of the worst culprits for posting negative news/comments! It can of course also taint people’s views of the car if taken in isolation.

I thought I’d brighten things up a little and provide my top 10 reasons to buy one. See what you think.

Here we go;

1/They are exceptional value for money. You will not find an EV of this size and space anywhere for the price that you can pick up a ZS

2/The build quality is actually very good. Contrary to common perception they are not cheap and cheerful - the doors shut with a reassuring clunk - the panel fit is good. It’s all put together very well and stands up to others in this class very well. A lot of the switches and fittings look very VAG in origin...leveraging SAIC links with the group.

3/They are good to drive. All EV’s give that effortless warp-drive feeling - smooth and quiet. The ZS is no different.

4/The all round visibility is good. A nice high up driving position, with good clear vision.

5/There’s loads of technology included for the price. Many manufacturers charge extra for a lot of the items included as standard with the ZS - especially if you go for the Exclusive model.

6/They are really cheap to run. This is true in general of most EV’s. I’ve found the insurance to be cheap, nil road fund licence and of course significantly reduced ICE fuel to electric costs. The tyres and brakes wear very slowly and servicing is relatively cheap. The ZS is also not bad when it comes to miles/kwh considering it’s not a small car. 3 is easily had in winter and 4+ in summer which is pretty good.

7/There’s loads of room. The boot is very roomy as is the rear seats for passengers. It’s a great family car.

8/It is an easy car to live with. It’s easy to drive, practical and fits into your everyday life easily.

9/The sun roof on the Exclusive is really fabulous. Massive opening sunroof - say no more.

10/Finally, there’s the 7 Year warranty. There’s been quite a bit said about the extent of the cover, but it still looks like a good thing to have if you intend longer term ownership.

It's the perfect car for my needs, my frequent short trips kill ICE cars.
I would add to that list the fact warms up so quick in winter, defrosting in less than 5 minutes and when its damp, but not frosty, demisting in less than 2 minutes.
I was never a fan of SUVs until I got the ZS and I'm now converted, the high seating position is great.

Yes. I tried not to make the reasons too generic about EV’s and more specific to the ZS ?

A well drawn up list that does reflect the positive side’s of the ZS EV.
NO - Room for “However’s” on this post please folks !.

True but they get DAB radio on their top spec model which is the equivalent of ours here in Oz. I'm thinking about getting one at the end of this month, March depending on how much they offer me for my Toyota Camry hybrid trade in. I wont pay full advertised price for a 2020 built vehicle, only for a 2021 built one. My colour of choice is Regal Blue here in Australia.

That shorter warranty is mystifying - anyone got any theories why that would be?? More confusing is that the battery warranty is 8 years...
It is worth looking at the small print. Although UK gets 7 Years not everything is covered.
