Could anyone explain difference between Trophy and Trophy Connect? Are all ZS in 2024 able to connect to the Internet? For updates do you have to go to the dealer? We're hoping to get a new or nearly new ZS before they're all gone.

I have Trophy (not Connect) and as far as I know, the only difference is that you have some voice commands (open window, close sunroof, etc...), you get 1 year of Amazon music for free (never listen to it and you can use your phone for music anyway) and I think you can use the car as Hotspot for WiFi wireless connection (not needed for me as any UK phone comes with some free data). Not aware of anything else extra.

However, some people reported that there is a data limit, that after certain amount of data is spent, it "rests" until next month - someone with Connect will confirm.

As for updates, yes you go to MG garage where you are supposed to service your car every year - that's warranty condition. But, unless something is not working on the car, you don't really need updates, it's not like a laptop that needs constant updates for security updates against hackers...

If the price is same or thereabouts, I would go for Connect, not because it's that much better but because we all like extras even if we don't need them...

Thanks that's really helpful. We are quite computer-literate but are moving from a history of manual Citroen diesels. We have a radio/CD and cruise control but that's it, so this is all new to us. Dealers are saying that they're expecting the ZS to be phased out now, so are selling off the last ones. A new Trophy is approximately 1.5k more than SE, would you recommend it?

I would go for the Trophy in the long range model, if you can find one !.
They are a really good buy at the moment, but don’t hang around !.

Check it out here:

I check out the cheapest basic car specifications and then think what's missing and what would I like different. By the time I would add all optional extras, it turns out much cheaper to buy top spec model and get a few other extras "free". If you think of each extra adding ÂŁ100 or so to the car value (obviously it's subjective, sunroof for me is worth quite a bit more extra), I would pay extra for Trophy but I would shop around. Some Trophy models are without sunroof - you definitely want one with sunroof for the same money!

Consider whether you need long range model if you are driving long distances over 2-3 hours without stopping. If not, standard range is enough, I stop after every 2-3 hours anyway and so far no problems with range.

You can bin all your CDs. Download them to your phone, it connects to the car via USB cable and that gives you Android Auto with Google navigation and other bits ... or Bluetooth connection for music and phone calls...

Finally, don't stick to your local dealer, search for the cheapest equivalent and then if you really want to stick with the local one (difference could be up to ÂŁ3K) ask them to price-match. Use CarWow or other car price websites for deals. Or MG website.

Thanks very much for the advice. We found carwow very useful to identify the range of prices. Today we visited a local dealer just to test drive a ZS and were surprised to find they offered us a price 5k less than they had submitted on carwow,
which almost matched the national lowest price. MG are currently giving an ÂŁ11k discount off list price to clear out the ZS apparently.

Hi
Just ordered a long range ZS yesterday, as our Nissan Leaf has been such a success that we're going fully electric, and needed one that can carry a canoe.
Good experience at the dealer and test drive, with the one grumble about why most cars make such a meal of speed limiters; they're such a precious and simple thing. Oh well.
Your forum has been helpful so far and am sure we will have plenty more questions.
Cheers
Carrying a canoe - exactly the reason I just bought mine.

Hi, if you use a lot of rapid chargers then it can put the battery cell voltages at slightly different levels so by doing a balance once a month it levels all the battery cells the same voltage.
You can do it on a 7kwh EVSE or the 'granny' as it takes the same times as it only draws 300-500w.
Hello from NZ. I have a 2022 zsev and have mostly used the granny charger for the two months I've had it. I have charged to 100% to get the equilization, but am a bit puzzled about how long it takes to equilize once it's reached 100%. Some people have said until the charge light goes out. Is this the chevron light on the charge mount at the front of the car. Once it's reached the top the granny charger stop an it flashes the charging light. On the app it says finished charging. I am presuming equilzation has done but no sign/symbol saying it has, so just assuming it has. So is it equilized when it has reached 100%? Some posts have said it can be hours after finished charging to get the equilization done and refer to the voltage on the car screen showing it hadn't reached the peak, something like 499volts or something but I don't understand this. Any advice? Does it matter if you reach 100% more than once in a month on a granny charger? Getting a wall charger tomorrow. Can you got to 100% on wall charger any amount of times? cheers!

If you are not using fast charging I wouldn't be worried. Just charge at home to max 80% unless you plan a long trip.

I have the car scanner pro app and the v gate OBDII dongle. You can see on it the battery SOH and the max and min cell voltage. I needed to select those parameters and put them on the dashboard of the app to get that view..

With my home charging point an Ohme Pro I can see that it tails off charging for a while at 100%

I have edited the first post to add a history of the ZS. Could those of you more familiar with the specifications please edit to fix any inaccuracies and/or add information about the trims available?
Thanks
