I'm trying to make a decision regarding which MG to go for and trying to make comparisons between the ZS and my Outlander PHEV which I've thoroughly enjoyed using for 6 years now.

Looking at the specs relating to boot / cargo space and passenger leg and head room there seems to be very little in it but if any other forum member has made the same move I'd appreciate your views as to how they compare from a practical use point of view.

I have owned an 2015 outlander phev. Comparing it with the zs, they are 2 very different cars. Apples and oranges really. I don’t think you can truly compare them.
the drive train is different to start off with. BEV vs hybrid. Then the outlander is awd with twin motor lock (acts like a diff lock).
the Outlander is a bigger car with bigger spaces. The ride quality I found was better in the outlander. The zs is not bad for its weight and I have not struggled with space until I had to do a tip run at which point I really missed the space in the outlander.
I found that whils the build quality for the zs is acceptable it is not as well put together as the outlander and you can really feel it and most of the time hear it ( as stuff tends to rattle and creak and I have accepted it)
I really miss the awd of the outlander which in the rain and snow really helps with my rural commute. Winter tyres on the zs help but is no replacement.
having said that I really love my zs. It is a different car completely to the outlander.

Many thanks for that Jaygee.

I've been doing a lot of research since my post and finally come to the conclusion that while I think I would really like the ZS it simply won't be big enough for my r/c model planes si within the MG range it will have to be a 5.

I've really enjoyed the Outlander - even more after I fitted all season tyres which I'd also put on the 2wd 5 (or a ZS for that matter).

But I'll now have to wait for news of the refreshed 5.

Thanks again!

Agree 2 different cars, not easy to compare, but regards build quality my ZS had no rattles or creaks and I found it to be well put together.

I have a 2018 outlander phev and looking at the MG Phev.
Similar concerns and questions. AWD and 2.4 versus 1.5. No snow mode. No heated screen. No pre-warm for 04:00 starts.
Test driving Mg tomorrow.

Only plus at moment is finance plan cheaper on MG

Would appreciate more opinion
