I will use this cheat, because screw LKA
Don’t care, as long as it stops dragging me places I’d rather not be, I’m happy. This has come up before, unfortunately I think you also lose the blind spot warning, rear cross traffic warning and rear collision warning (no great loss tbh).
For me, it’s this. Sometimes, I might be driving for an hour and in that hour, I might leave the car 7, 8 or more times. Every time my bum leaves the seat, LKA goes back on. Even if I have to put the bins out because I forgot and ‘started’ the car, I have to do it twice before I leave, same if I forget my glasses and the list goes on. I’m doing a click and collect this morning from Sainsbury’s, it’s also bin day. Worse case scenario is this. Start the car, forgot the bin (1), get back in the car (2), forgot my glasses ?, back in the car (3), stop at the hole in the wall machine, (4). Get to Sainsbury’s, open the boot, load shopping (5), pop in the post office to drop mail off (6). I’ve been away from home for about 25 minutes and had to pre-flight six times. OK, so the first scenario I do, maybe once every two or three weeks, and Sainsbury’s is weekly. Can you not see how frustrating this is? Does that not grip your pants at least a little? It irritates the carp out of me, it really does.I honestly don't see what's so hard about turning LKA off before you get going that it needs all these shenanigans. Sure, I'd prefer not to have to do it, but we are where we are.
Maybe I have found a way to disable lane keep and front collision.
I have Trophy gen. 1 and R46
I have tested it 6 times today and it still works.
I proceed as follows:
I than park the car, get out and lock the car.
- Unlock car and get in
- Wait till all screens are on and press brake pedal
- switch off lane keep
- switch off front collision
- switch ON towing mode
- start driving
Do my thing and unlock the car, get in and wait till all screens are on, press the brake pedal I than get a warning message and accept (in Dutch in my case}
Both lka and front collision stay off and towing mode is also on.
Hopefully this works as well for others.

Even though I live in sunny Norwich, Norfolk and our roads are abysmal, I use our bypass quite a lot due to road works being, well, everywhere at the minute. 130yds from my home, 38 week roundabout improvements (not needed, it's the idiot drivers that cannot stay in lane), where I just moved from, 2 year bus lane installation on a road that just isn't wide enough!Yes, I totally understand. One way I have round some of that is that I don't bother turning it off if I'm not leaving the 30 mph zone. It doesn't activate until about 35 mph. I don't know if that's any help.
no, there are 2 star buttons, i have one set to regen mode, the other to drive mode.Am I right that if you assign the drive modes to the star button that you can't toggle regen without using the control panel? You have to pick one?
This is intensional so the car gets the Euro NCAP Safety Rating, the car must start up with expected default settings, the only way to get the rating and not do this is to implement driver profiles which MG has not done.I tried all the suggestions made, but to no avail. Each time you go out of the car and lock it, it reverts back to the default modes. Hence, you need to set your modes again each time. Very annoying. Has anyone solved this issue, pls post.
This would be a great move if it happens.I spoke to my media contact at MG Australia recently and he said that they're working on an MG4 software update to save custom settings , no hint about if or when it will be released
You'd think this would be simple enough to do (I have a programming background and this sort of stuff is normally pretty easy) but the evidence seems to be that the car modules manage some of the defaults, not the infotainment, so I imagine it is a multi-vendor effort to make it work.I spoke to my media contact at MG Australia recently and he said that they're working on an MG4 software update to save custom settings , no hint about if or when it will be released
Thanks for the clarifications. But surely they can introduce profiles like the rest of the EV manufacturesThis is intensional so the car gets the Euro NCAP Safety Rating, the car must start up with expected default settings, the only way to get the rating and not do this is to implement driver profiles which MG has not done.
They probably will - on new/facelift models. Thsi will get them new sales via people upgrading, some won't but a lot will. If they introduce it for existing models, they will lose additional sales. Happens all of the time with all manufacturers. They will have a list of features that are already available but will introduce them to enhance each release of a model. Thanks for the clarifications. It doesn't update ota. Only dealers can install updates.Oh dear doesn't sound good. Mine all work so I assume yours will. Possibly needs a software update or something?
I actually connected mine to my home WiFi network... no idea if that helps update it or what the point is but I did it anyway
You can have drive modes on the star button and if you want to change re gen you could select snow which gives you level 1 regen. Not ideal I know but that's the option.Am I right that if you assign the drive modes to the star button that you can't toggle regen without using the control panel? You have to pick one?
There are 2 star buttons, so you can have 1 each for regen and drive mode. (That's what I have ... left = drive mode and right = regen). You can have drive modes on the star button and if you want to change re gen you could select snow which gives you level 1 regen. Not ideal I know but that's the option.
