I am due to receive my new MG4 EV SE -- UK spec soon and I am trying to clarify whether it will actually have a reversing camera or not after reading various posts and other forums. Its the UK SE model so I know its not got the 360 degree system. MG specs don't mention the camera however I have found this statement from the MG UK guide to safety features that states "In fact, reverse cameras are so important that as of 2021, all new cars have to be fitted with them as standard" here is the link

Halfords website also echo's the same information.

I contacted MG UK and they have assured me that it does after a couple of emails referring to their own website blog, they stated. "I went to the tech team to clarify. I took the information from the spec. Unfortunately, the reverse camera was not mentioned. However, you are quite right. The MG4 EV SE as of 2021 comes with reverse cameras and sensors"

So I am interested to see if anybody else has seen this information on the MG UK website blog and also if they have contested the fact their car may not have a camera fitted even though it is newer than 2021.

The SE does not come with a reversing camera in the UK even though it probably well should.
I don’t think that my24 spec has changed any of that.

Yes, a bit. But I already knew the distances empirically from reversing into my garage then seeing how much space there was behind the car to pass to connect the charging cable.

That's because UK isn't EU any more ?

On a more serious note, is likely that UK dealers (being EVs way more popular in UK compared to continental EU) have some stock of older models

For SE : reverse camera and GPS with ISA for speed limit while driving

The SE become the best value now with this equipment

What changes does MY24 MG4 have in Europe vs MY23 MG4 in Europe?

(Just because a car was built and sold in 2024 doesn't necessarily make it a Model Year 24).
Different infotaiment software (SWI133 for luxury, SWI132 for standard), frontal side intakes are fake, interior top and pillars are clear grey and not dark gray and there is a led light in the boot too. Interior lights are led. Net in front of central armrest is missing. Speed limit sound alert on by default. Satnav has charging stops planner.
Standard range has 49kwh battery and rear camera.
There is a 49kwh luxury trim with lfp battery pack.
Blue color got removed and orange is the free one.

Finally got a decent reply from MG.
"Although the MG 4 was launched in the UK in 2022 the vehicle was type approved before the legislation in 2021 was changed." So there's your answer why the current MG4 se in the uk does not have a reversing camera

Actually find it somewhat annoying that I have a 2024 MG4 SE that doesn't have a reversing camera, but the ones being made now do.

I did know that buying the car but found it's absence to be more of an issue than I had hoped and had to get an aftermarket camera that attaches to my number plate.

Especially since if I had stuck to my original idea of going fully electric in Summer 25 the car would have that equipment. My own fault for buying early.

I got one for around £120 from Ali Express. The fitter charged £300 (was very good, highly recommended).

If you can do it yourself or find someone cheaper it would be a lot less than it was for us!

What is your system version please ?
Do you have GPS ?

Got mine in late 2023 but it's an 2022.
Last year, 2023 version and 2024 version were in sale at the same time.

2024 version got a new softwate build, SE got reverse camera and GPS, and battery is 49 kWh vs 51.

By checking the VIN, you can know wich one you have
