Pity there isn't a separate forum heading for MG4 Australia, so there could be different topics within that heading that related to Australian conditions ..... or is there, and I'm just not clever enough to find it
There's nothing stopping anyone creating new threads with (Australia) included in the title so as to separate such discussions. :)

Would it be safe to assume the consumption for winter driving in the cold climates would be similar to full summer driving in our side of the globe?
This is our long term economy and normalised range estimate since I started capturing the data with Home Assistant:

We live northern NSW so a mild to hot climate at times.

Spikes in economy rate will be due to long highway journeys up/down the Pacific Motorway. Overall the general trend has been of better economy in summer than winter but I think I'd want a much longer term data set to see a true seasonal pattern emerge. If it does then we should see economy rate rising again as we head into winter.

We always have the aircon on. Australian models have aircon (and it is pretty powerful) but they do not use a heat pump for cabin heating. We wouldn't have used the car's heater much and have never used seat or steering wheel heating. Winter daytime here is ~20°C. A cold night might get down to 5-6°C.

We are moving home soon, same area just closer to the ocean. It will probably mean an interruption to my data collation until I get systems set up in the new place.

My nerves have settled a bit now .... I was panicking that the 51 was using way too much battery capacity with a 102km trip to Royal Adelaide Hospital requiring 37.83 kWh to bring it back to 100% SOC .... the wife pointed out that it was the second trip and only 14 hrs recharging on the granny charger before we had to leave for the second trip ..... so it was actually 306km, plus maybe a bit of running around on top, so maybe 320km ..... 14 hrs @ 1.6kWh per hr = 22 kWh + 37.82kwh = roughly 60 kWh ...... 320 / 60 = 18.75kWh/100km, not particularly good economy, but the wife still loves the EV grin so is a tad heavy on the throttle, and we have some big hills along that section of road.

All combined, not near as bad as I had first feared, they were both 40°C + days, so that would have contributed quite a bit with all the stop start traffic through the city heating the car up a lot

Thanks everyone for your contribution to just how much the aircon took out of the battery.

I know you notice more people driving the same car as you after you buy, but it's taken me 4 months to see 5 other #MG4s on a trip between the mountains and Penrith - a red, another blue, Camden grey, silver, & XPower green. I thought I saw more, but it was too hard to tell while driving. 😁

I've seen a few out before, but usually only 1 or 2 in a day. I'm seeing increasing numbers of other #EV brands as well, but notice the MGs more.

Cool! 😎

When we started driving the Taxi Prius (it sat in the front yard for 2½ yrs, driven once around the block and a few times across the road to make room for things to be shuffled around) the first drive was from Wollongong to Mannum, the way I went (and got hopelessly lost) covered 1700km ... fairly heroic in a car that had no plates and transfer rego and had not been driven all that time. On the way over, I started to see Gen 2 Prii everywhere.

When I bought the first write off MG4 and had it delivered to the workshop yard (hidden behind the hedge so the wife wouldn't know) I looked for MG4s every time we were out so I could quiz the wife on what she thought of them ...... not one in nearly 3 weeks .... When I finally 'fessed up, she wasn't even interested in looking at it  When she finally did come to the yard .... it wasn't the car that she didn't want to see, it was the yard with the remains of our burnt out workshop. She liked the car :)and from then on we saw more of them ......
When I bought the second repairable write off from Melbourne and had it delivered to Adelaide, she was excited to see it ..... but repairs turned out to be a much longer project than I realised.

When we needed a vehicle in a hurry because our primary drive car, the Silver Prius, I couldn't get the part required until after I was due to be at the eye hospital in Adelaide, Margaret suggested we might buy a new car :D What sort? An MG4  We saw them every where on the way down to the car yard and on the way home, again when we went to pick it up and again on the way home .....

It must be the whole thing of owning one that makes you look out for them, but we still see a lot of Prii out and about

I see a lot more in the Hills area and Hornsby nowdays. Sometimes 4-5 a day. There’s a dealer in Pennant Hills so maybe that’s why. It’s where I got mine.

Only by selecting an Imperial setting - if that's even possible in the car. But doing that will make everything else wrong (mph vs kph, miles vs km etc.). Metric always seems to use kWh/100 km for some reason.

Last winter my average was 16+kWh /100km, this summer it was 14.4kWh/100km.
Winter mornings usually -2°C or above.
The other reason might be that the figures would be 0.16kWh/km winter and 0.144kWh/km in summer, which don't really inspire anyone to improve their driving or suffering a cold car to improve economy by 0.016kWh/km ..... but then, an improvement of 1.6kWh/100kms wouldn't convince me to sit in a freezing cold car either ;)

Hi Aussies.
I have just joined the forum, so not sure on protocols. Can I post a question in this forum, it seems to be unfiltered Aussie content. I'm in Sydney and looking for a supplier of OBD2 plug in widget and a matching Android app to monitor the car. Any recommendations out there ?
