MG4 Lane keep assist

As do I in similar circumstances - something which is now much easier with the option being on the pull down menu (with 1100R33 software). But by default I leave it on.

Lucky you. It's up for the grab but Europe is not providing it. At least Brexit off here...

If is lka you can see the line that triggers it coloring red. If the system also pulls at the wheel, you can see it in a video. I have recorded this when it happened in mine when I did not want it to.
True, you need to simply record the whole journey
When I use LKA in my Trophy (R33) the lane markings on the display brighten when they are detected but I have never seen them turn red, even when I was deliberately crossing lanes to see the LKA effect.

Red is on the right side (UK left side) which is often a solid lane marker, blue on the left when crossing a non solid marking to separate from the next lane. If blue, the line is also displayed as a solid one.
The blue color only shows in LDW and ELK. In Alert mode colors are only red. I tested it this morning on the highway.

Sorry but that is completely, 100% false. My car is from the early batches (built Aug '22, delivered Nov '22 and is an SE with privacy glass). Mine has always defaulted to LKA On.
I wonder if it was just the Trophy that could remain off? Certainly mine (October 22 pick up) could be permanently disabled before its update at first service. Not that it really matters whether it could or couldn't, just wondering!

No - my Nov22 SE SR stayed off permanently until they did the updates on its first service in Sep23.

I wish ours stayed off permanently!
I also tried just setting alerts, but it still grabbed the wheel intermittently.
I'm starting to get into the habit, of turning LKA off and OPD on at start up, but it's annoying when I forget.

Difficult to understand that Alert mode also intervenes. Unless you combine it with TJA. Would be interesting to read if others experienced the same in Alert mode (without TJA!).

Could it be that the first series of the SE has different LKA modes?

To me, it seems unlawful that it’s ok for customers to continue driving the MG4 when the defect has been acknowledged by MG.

I’ve really tried to enjoy owning this car, but I’ve had so many issues like LKA and bad (couldn’t give a sh*+) main dealership experiences that I don’t think I can buy an MG again. The car had so much potential.

Does anyone have the same problem as I do with Lane Keep Assist I have to turn mine off before I set off it tries to pull my car quiet violently either the centre line or near side line I can not just hold the steering wheel gently
Hi I understand your concern if u have never experienced LKA before this is not really unsafe as it always returns to same will not steer into traffic ect just feels weird, so did ABS brakes years ago I think pot holes are more dangerous.

I have LKA on a KIA and it genuinely works brilliantly. The MG4 however has tried to steer me into oncoming traffic at 60 mph and also off of the road, which is hugely unsafe.

I'm in a similar spot, the wife doesn't really want to drive the car as she considers it unsafe.
If I wasn't half way through a PCP with no easy way out, I'd genuinely be done with it.

I had a few bad customer service experiences with Hyundai in the past, but both Ioniqs were fantastic.

Luckily (or unluckily) I own the car outright and its mine in its entirety. It has every possible update and is at the latest of everything.

Now in fairness, it's considerably better than it was, and either me or the wife can easily turn off LKA/ELK with the pull down menu ON R59.

But the foibles with this (wifi hotspot not working etc) and some other silly things mean that I have no confidence that anything will ever be completely sorted by the less than helpful lacklustre manufacturer.

For that reason, I am considering changing the car for something else, despite loving the driving dynamics and exterior styling

"I certainly don't like LKA but getting into the habit of turning it off is all that's needed to really enjoy the car."

Not really, if you're one of the unlucky ones who also suffers phantom braking and other issues.
@yellowmitch sounds like you're in exactly the same position as me then, bar the PCP.
