MG4 Lane keep assist

Well that was interesting forgot to turn lane assist off. Moved over to pass parked car and lane assist cut in and tried to re arrange my passenger side and drivers side of parked car !!!!!!!!
Absolutely hate this feature, supposed to keep you safe Hmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!

There was a post about NCAP being aware and in contact with MG about LKA - I wonder if that has made any progress?

They weren’t interested. “You know how to turn it off so what are you whining about” - I summarise.

Yup, came close to an intimate encounter with a parked Transit on the first day of ownership. Totally bonkers system.

It can be annoying. But indicating first should stop the system trying to correct your manoeuvre. And you can adjust the setting of it.
But I am sure you know this already.

Hi Buster72
When you say adjust the setting do you mean on/off or sensitivity?
Probably all of the above but you should not need to do this at each restart. Nor should you need to indicate to pass a parked vehicle in my view.
The MG4 should be like other EV's which retain settings to my knowledge so you just get in the car and drive off without trying to remember to turn things off or adjust sensitivity etc. Also on occasions where someone else is driving the car such as your wife or friend you then need to remind them to do the same.
It reminds me of the 'old' days where you got in the car and pulled out the choke, gave the accelerator pedal no more than 4 pumps and hit the starter button whilst reciting a certain prayer and in the event that it started you needed to wait 5 minutes til it warmed up before driving off. :)

You forgot the halfpenny between the choke knob and the dashboard to keep the choke out :ROFLMAO:

Don't forget to rev the engine before switching off! ?
The pumping the throttle before starting actually did something.

Some carburettor based cars had an accelerator pump that when you floored the throttle put an extra squirted jet of fuel into the venturi.

The first car i learnt to drive in - Herald - would drip fuel from an overflow if you over did the prestart primer

I don't know if the question has been posed before - but, is it possible that the LKA demon manifests itself more on the Trophy as opposed to the SE?

I just don't understand why some owners suffer and others not?

I have an SR SE and my LKA is usually off when I wake the car, I never touch it and it never interferes whilst I'm driving - EVER! OK day one, but I turned it off on the way home and we've gone our separate ways ever since - so to speak!

The LKA icon is there on the drivers display but is always in yellow, so not active - unless I turn on TJA, but the rest of the time inactive. I rarely use Cruise as I find it lacking finesse but prefer the speed limiter instead. My infotainment is R13 - latest for SE? and I've had dealer updates in November and right at the end of Jan. BTW by off, I mean the slider switch in the settings page is greyed and slid to the left.

I started pondering this when reading a totally different post that suggested there is possibly different modules (head unit in alternate parlance) for the two models infotainment systems. IF this is where the logic lives for all of the driver assistance then we know the software for the two models has diverged as the revisions numbers are totally different. Just a though.

I don't know if it effects one model more than another but it's probably more to do with the calibration of the camera sensor at the factory and the software version.

Yes, it is its own module and software, so it depends which version you have. Quite possible that SEs and Trophys have different versions to start with.

Sorry, my point was - when I look it's turned off and I don't turn it off, but many people who have problems have, in their words, "forgot to turn it off" - I paraphrase.

I don't have to turn it off, so I can't say that it's always off as I rarely look, it's not one of my pre-driving checks as I never suffer ghostly hands upon the steering wheel. But when I do look it's off.

But it did start me wondering if the SE model is immune from the LKA issue.

I can categorically state that LKA staying Off is irrelevant vs the model variant. I have an SE SR and mine defaults to On every time it goes to READY mode.

Very Interesting because I also have SE SR and mine is OFF and stays OFF. "Curiouser and Curiouser" cried Alice.
