MG4 Lights cracked in heat

Hey all,

Has anyone else experienced this issue? I noticed today some cracks in my back light on the tailbar but I can't feel them, so they're definitely internal.

I'll have to contact the dealer about this as it's not even got that hot in the UK yet!

Has anyone else had this?

Cracks or condensation ?
Run a hairdryer over them, if they disappear then the latter.

It's definitely not condensation unfortunately

Has the rear of the car been exposed for a long period to direct sunlight? (We've had a spell of really good weather - for Scotland - recently). To me they look like heat stress cracks.

That's what I'm thinking. But if it's cracking now then it's gonna get a whole lot worse?

I would have thought if it was heat stress cracks they would be on the other corner too.

The light bar hasn't been knocked or the tailgate been pushed shut on that corner?

There's now several people reporting cracking to the MG4 rear light bar....it needs moving to one thread

No cracking on the light bar but my vent cracked yesterday whilst the car was parked in the sun.

I have one crack, about 30mm long. You cannot feel it, but it is definitley a crack and not condensation.

There's now several people reporting cracking to the MG4 rear light bar....it needs moving to one thread

You mention several others are reporting a crack, but I have not seen many. I am trying to understand how much of a problem this is as mhy dealer has said it is unlikley to be covered under warranty. Can you please add any more info to this?

Should be covered under warranty as it the product is clearly not fit for purpose. As case of contacting Citizens Advice I think!

MG4 Trophy Long Range

I have just noticed that the left rear light cover has developed internal cracks. My car is almost 1 year old. In my country the sun is very strong in Summer. I fear that the plastic material used does not withstand the heat.

Does anyone knows from where one can buy online a replacement for the cracked rear light covers?

Very odd. I live in a very hot climate. West coast Australia. Last summer period had many, many days over 40 and weeks in the mid 30's and not had any issues. Now 20,000kms on it.

I got the same issue, need to take it to mg to assess but they can’t see for a few weeks !! Cracks will spread by then , defy sure it wa not hit
