MG4 Restricted speed - weird

Ok, have tested some more and taken battery down to 10% but the weather is rubbish and I’ve already driven nearly 300 miles today so I could not be bothered to go any lower.

it is the same as before and starts after the first low battery nag at 21%.

The reduction in power and speed seems progressive and gradual starting at around 71mph at 20% remaining until by 10% top speed is about 55-58 and 19% power continuous with around 55% available up to the point it limits speed. The speed is not a hard limit as the road I used undulates and it is slightly slower uphill and slightly faster down.

will log it with my dealer tomorrow.

When mine lost power it would go up in 1mph increments no power accelerating at all the power dial on right side wouldn’t go above no 60 my battery was at 85% on startup then went down to 15% in 5 miles driving.they did BMS update which not had power issues since.car is in for official rejection today with finance company being inspected by a private firm any refund or confirmation on your rejection yet @bowfer

The rejection was official 2.5 weeks ago.
A letter from Santander saying they upheld my complaint, the finance would be marked as settled on my credit record and I’d get a refund of all monies paid.
I’ve not got any money yet, I’m giving them until Tuesday before complaining (that will be three weeks since the letter)

Are you saying that you had no issues after the BMS update? I seem to remember you saying they returned? Maybe I'm getting confused...

Went to pick up my daughter from Newcastle Airport yesterday and encountered the power loss. Struggled to get 57 MPH max.
as mentioned before on here I to have issues now and then with regeneration not working.
I have a SE SR bought on 11/1/23, done 1100 miles. ☹️
taking it back this afternoon for them to investigate. I will mention about the flash BMS @Mars6394 had done and seem to fix it from what I read.
changing out the motor on @bowfer seemed to not help in the end.

Well, I called in to my dealer but sadly the chap I have dealt with is off until next week. Spoke to another chap who went and talked with their MG tech in the workshop and he said sounds normal but there is a setting he can access in the cloud that would help And took my details.

Sounds like absolute BS to me unless they do have connectivity to the cars we are not aware of.

I will wait until next week and talk directly to the chap I have been dealing with I think. Not going to be wound up over the Easter long weekend. Have a good one everybody??

Oh come on. Why can't he just say that he doesn't have a clue and you have to wait until the other guy comes back?

Welcome to UK car dealership Salesmen?

I would have been much happier if he had said we‘ll look into it and come back to you, thanks for letting us know.

I doubt the guy I have dealt with will know but he has been very straight with me and whilst waiting for the car to arrive gave regular updates without prompting from me.

I think I will email him over the weekend so it is in writing plus the DAB radio has just lost all stations and scheduled charging does not work no matter how I set it up either in car or in app

I have had no issue with the speed after BMS update but had the oil leak now 3rd time so rejecting on oil leak grounds been in 2 different dealers still leaking oil.not giving them the chance to fix this time too many issues

How long did it take for Santander to confirm rejection they are independently inspecting my car on Friday so just wanted to know what happens

Thanks just trying to way up the time scales. Involved so I can get another car I play for when hopefully it goes back under rejection

Still to get any money, which will be three weeks tomorrow since their decision letter.
It’s maybe not an unreasonable timeframe in their book, but I’m damned if I’m just sitting back and taking it.
So I sent a snippy email today.
I’m fortunate I had the money to go ahead with another car, if I was waiting for the refund money to enable that I’d be really hacked off….
Oh and I’ve made another payment in the meantime (they said stopping the payments before everything was actually cancelled could affect my credit score)
I’m sure I’ll get it back, but still annoying paying for a car I’ve not had in weeks.

What did they settle on to refund you as in charges for the use of using it when u had it.I’m not meithered about the refund of the car just want them to take mine back and settle the remaining finance and give me back my deposit.hopefully I will get a response end this week if it goes or not

I know I’m getting all direct debit payments back, that’s in writing.
What is still ‘up in the air’ is the £1500 deposit I paid by card direct to the dealer.
I’m pushing for all of that back, but if they want to be childish and keep some derisory amount for the paltry mileage I managed in the thing, so be it.

Yup, so glad to see the back of it.
And although the Born is costing me more every month, it’s totally worth it, everything just feel so much more ‘sorted’ and premium.
All the best with your rejection.

That was the same as my thinking?

Had the car in yesterday for the power loss fault. I was told it’s been fixed with the latest software updates. The tech he had seen this before and the update fixed it. I asked if he has test driven it and he said around the dealership. I wasn’t feeling any good vibes when he said that as the issue is worse when you drive over 30 MPH.
I took the car and went straight onto the A19. On a slip road I reached 36 MPH and put my foot down to join the A19. Nothing there. It eventually crept upto 56 MPH. The turtle symbol appears now bottom right of the drivers screen and a prompt saying Power Limiter but never had time to read it fully. So I managed to limp back to the dealership. Now they’re contacting MG for further advice. Back to the MG5 loaner. Not happy.

Never got the turtle and power limiter on my display.
But, technically, that’s your dealer’s one chance to fix it and they’ve fluffed it.
You are now perfectly able to reject, if you want.
Don’t suppose you got a video…?
