MG4 Trophy LR ISL query

Hello MGEV community. I have recently swapped from an ID3 to an MG4 Trophy LR - 73 plate (UK).
Obviously I have found lots of differences, but the one I have noticed the most is the 'adaptive' and 'intelligent' part of Cruise Control and Speed Limiter. I have two questions you may be able to help me with.
1. The Cruise control 'adaptive' function only seems to be the distance to the car in front, it doesn't auto adapt the speed, is this correct? As I can only experiment while driving I have been limited to what I can figure out.
2. The top speed the car recognizes when the ISL is on is 60mph even on roads where it is 70 incl. motorways. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a way of changing the setting for the car to recognize 70?

Very naïve questions, but if you don't ask, you don't get. I haven't found what version the Infotainment system is yet, still finding my way around the touch screen, so if anyone can help with that, I would be grateful.

Welcome to the forum!

I'm not sure what you mean by auto-adapting the speed. The car will play follow-my-leader with the car in front, or drive at the speed you have set, whichever is the slower.

I don't use the ISL myself because it recognises spurious signs way too often, but it should recognise a 70 sign as being 70 mph. The bug is that it interprets the "national speed limit" sign as meaning 60 mph even on dual carriageways, where it is actually 70.

There is a "Guide to the MG Trophy" available, written by a member (someone will be along to link to it soon), and if you haven't seen it yet, this YouTube channel should be of interest.

Thank you Rolfe. You have helped a lot. So with the ID3, it played follow the leader, but would also change speed automatically to the road speed limits, your answer tells me I was correct in thinking this is not the case with the MG4. That's fine, I was just curious, I don't use ACC much but just wanted to understand its limitations. Same with the ASL, just trying all the settings out while I adapt to the new car. With the ID3 it worked in a similar way with the ASL, but I could change the speed manually too, I don't think that is possible with the MG4.

I look forward to someone sending the link through, again, thank you.

The ACC and ISL settings are separate. I use the ACC a lot, and I decide how fast I want to go without using the ISL at all. The problem with the ISL is that it will see a sign that's not relevant to the car (it's for HGVs, or traffic entering a side turning) and apply that whether you like it or not.

I presume if you use them both together the ISL will intervene and stop the ACC going above the speed limit, but I'm not sure as I haven't tried it. I just select the speed I want on the ACC, and alter that as I see speed limit signs. I'm better at recognising them than the car is!

Yes, thank you. I don't think you can use both together, I certainly haven't tried, that wasn't what I meant, sorry for any confusion, I was just comparing like for like and wondering if the what I have found on the MG4 was correct. I think you have answered those thoughts. Thank you.

I look forward to someone sending the link through, again, thank you.

Here's the thread. Note, however, that it's referencing an older software version, so take that into account.
