MG4 X Power Vibe/Hum 65 to 75mph

I got the vibrations today on 1st trip on a fast road 65-75mph. Can imagine it would be irritating on a very long motorway slog. Other than that drives great and no problems personally.
Yeah, you have drive to drive round it when it gets irritating (i.e. a bit slower or a bit faster). Not great when you just want to cruise at 70mph !! Please vote in the poll on this if you have'nt already ?. Seems like every Xpower driver has the issue so far (as expected).

Another article now ? which specifically mentions UK owners (as the guinea pigs !!)

QUOTE :

"It's MG XPower customer feedback from around the world that helps guide our engineers and designers to improve and evolve our offering," said a MG Motor Australia spokesperson.

"Seeing UK owners use their new performance hot hatch, whether for work, family or on track, inspired some innovative ideas that drove our HQ's design and development decisions to upgrade the steering damper in the XPower.

"With help of all the rich insights from customers abroad, we've taken this opportunity to put the new steering damper in all XPowers as part of our Pre Delivery Inspection process both in Australia and NZ.

"While this will cause some delays in delivery, we believe that this upgrade will further enhance the driving experience through improved handling and steering response without compromising safety.
"

And another ?

QUOTE :-

"MG Motor New Zealand will fit a new steering dampner to all MG4 XPOWER models – both delivered and to-be-delivered – to correct a vibration issue."

Anyone tried a big thick set of oven gloves? Ski mitts? A pillow taped over the wheel?

Oven gloves worked lovely for me, completely wiping out any vibration felt previously.
But weirdly threw up its own list of problems whilst trying to operate the touchscreen for example.

And MG really should really re-design the glovebox!
Virtually impossible to open if you have oven gloves on.

Suggest you use a barge pole, I always keep one handy…..

Good Grief!!!
Just been reading this (All of it, from the beginning)
And we think we've got issues ?

Yes, fortunately seems fixed now though, no recent reports.

Thank you for contacting MG Motor UK Ltd.

I do believe, that there is some confusion regarding processes that are and need to be followed.

Firstly, some customers are reporting this as an annoyance. Therefore, any action that we take is being looked at case by case.

As far as I am aware some customers are reporting vibration at certain speeds, but it is not having detrimental effect on the car or causing breakdown. If there is anything that your local dealer can do, in conjunction with MG Motor UK Ltd. then I am sure that will take that action.

To be clear, Australia are their own distributor and we have no affiliation other than the badge and have no influence on any decision that they make. All that I can say is that any repair they are carrying out will not be an official opinion or process from the factory.

As with all things, when new models are launched, things happen that don’t show up in testing, but show up when with drivers in real life conditions. If a fault or problem is concerned, then engineers will test this, and provide a solution, and I may say, that because of our unique set up in the UK, usually much quicker than most OEM. I have worked with several brands and may take years to provide solutions to these things.

At the moment, everything is simply being looked at case by case and thank you for your continued patience.

I mean, I am relatively happy with the response.

So, sort of fobbed off, with a hint of we do acknowledge there is something going on and we are looking at it.
Even if it is "case by case"

Reinforces the need to actually go to the dealer and get it recorded officially.

P.S. Also interesting to see that he says the Australian FIX is not "official" or anything to do with SAIC?? Odd.

Very interesting .. the articles appear to say the revised dampers (the fix) are being flown out by SAIC ….I Can't believe the fix wouldn’t have been sanctioned by SAIC.
