I’m about 8 weeks into my brand new £19200 5SE. I’ve got Ohme Home Pro and IOG. Previously had ZS 1.5, so agree with all the above - ZS HVAC superior, FL5 infotainment ditto, 5FL way better for the following: rear speakers, armrest, lighting, cup holders all absent from ZS. ZS LED front indicators better than 5 tungsten, ZS full rear brake lights LED. 5 only on HL brake light. ZS ICE had no torque bottom end and horrible hunting idle speed, but silky smooth gearshift. ZS folding mirrors showed signs of long term failure. 5SE does without.
I did love my ZS and thought it would be a keeper, but at 1st service was offered steal deal on 5SE.
MG Pilot is an absolute godsend, I switched off LKA, Auto main beam and wound everything else back to minimum. TJA is fantastic in town but equally good when coupled with ACC on main roads/mways. Speed limiter awkward on 5 but ACC works down to 20mph. ZS speed limiter much better but no ACC and CC 30mph or more.
But my biggest problem is both were on 6k pa PCP, ZS was within mileage, but 5 SE already on 1400 miles and not even two months yet! It’s so ridiculously cheap to run I’m using it without thinking of the miles I’m putting on it. But the plan is, and seems to be viable, I’ll settle the balloon and keep it at the end. My commute is 60 miles a day, 80% charge every 3rd night. I’ve done a 230 mile each way trip out and put up with 79p fast charge for the overall savings. I’m saving £7 every single day I drive it to work.
I absolutely love it, it’s like wearing Hush Puppies, that favourite comfy slippers feeling when I get in it and waft to where I need to be.
I learned to drive in a ‘67 Midget, I’ve owned dozens of real and Rover MGs and I’m custodian of my late father’s MGTC. I’m under no illusions of badge engineering status of the SAIC cars but I’m still proud to own and drive the 5. And one day I’ll have a Cyberster!!
