Hi I’m pretty new only had my MG5 trophy for about 6 weeks, loving it so far but it has to go in for two upgrades this Friday.
Just wanted to know if anyone has had these updates and there these the ones that will finally allow us to use the Tesla chargers, as when I purchased the car the salesman said that all the software would be up to date, but when I tried it wouldn’t work.
Thanks in advance

I'm fairly sure they call it the EVCC update but they won't call you in to have it done automatically. MG don't really accept that is is a bug that needs fixing (although it obviously is) so they think of it as a paid upgrade. If you car is already in the workshop and you have a good relationship with the dealer then they might be happy to do it for nothing while they are doing the other work.
When I had mine done in January we were still at the stage where the dealer had to get specific approval to apply the update to a particular car. This might have changed by now but I was very glad that I had prepared the way at the time I booked my service.

I bought my Trophy on 5 February and took it straight to a Tesla charger; it didn't work. I returned to the dealer the next day to have the door locks fixed and they did an unspecified software update, which I believe was the EVCC one. I returned to the Tesla charger and it worked.

Just picked up the car and as promised I’ve attached the paperwork for the work they carried out and all free of charge.
Will be testing the Tesla chargers hopefully tomorrow. ? Dealer was Glyn Hopkins Mill Hill

Which dealership did the upgrade for free? My local says it's chargeable.
I think they will all say that it is chargeable but it only costs them a little bit of workshop time so you might be able to get it included with some other work. My dealer (Apple MG) did it for free at the first service but I'd prepared the ground a bit by discussing it with them in advance..

Sadly they weren't willing to do it at the same time as my service/MOT. Seems a bit ridiculous to have to pay for this, but I guess it helps to identify the dealerships that are willing to go the extra mile.

I don't know if you have a choice of dealers where you live but I'd be tempted to shop around for your next service.

Greenock MG Garage, MacMillan Motors. New MG And Used Cars For Sale | Greenock Inverclyde |McMillan Motors

I tried elsewhere but they were all pretty unhelpful. Arnold Clark etc. Good luck!

I tried when I got a recent service (Arnold Clark) and they had no clue about anything I was talking about… Spoke to someone who does, McMillan Motors and all sorted within a week!

So I bought a new mg 5 EV on Monday and I'm just wondering if they have the Tesla update already done now or would I still need to get the update at a garage.. is there a way to check?
Sorry if this has already been answered but I can't find much information about this anywhere.

If it's a brand new facelift then they should have done it as part of the PDI,

Dropped my car of this morning for MOT, 3rd Service and Tesla torment. Still couldn’t tell me anything about the latter. The work will take all day til 15:00.
I walked out to the bus stop in front of the garage to catch a bus to Falkirk then on to Edinburgh and just with that my car disappeared towards Falkirk? Test drive first ?
Anyway I’m in Princes street enjoying a coffee with a cinnamon bun.

So the car passed its MOT with flying colours. The service was completed and the Tesla update is completed (try it out somewhere tomorrow) And the car was presented freshly washed and immaculate.
Well done Fraser’s Garage Falkirk who supplied this car and the ZSEV that came before it.
I was chuffed with the price - after all the stories, my bill today was £166.84. Excellent ? and the AA cover included for another 12 months of course.

My local didn't even manage to wipe a bit of bird crap off the rear wing. Sounds like Fraser's are knocking it out of the park!

Aye I’m heading of out into the world to see if the Tesla myth can be proven to work with my car. I’ve joined up for a year with them so I’m hoping all is well.
My Daughter and her spaniel are in Drumnadrochit tonight apparently on the way home so I might meet them in Aviemore, Perth or Euro Central which I believe are all available to non Tesla vehicles ??
