Misting up

Hi. Well, I think there are two ways to turn fan off/on - talk to the car (works fine for me), and/or use the buttons on the steering wheel. Neither involve the screen!
Also, unless I'm wrong there is a difference between turning the fan on and the actual AC.

I can adjust the temperature and fan speed with voice control and can turn the hvac (the whole system) on and off but have failed to find a voice command to switch the a/c compressor on or off.

I also get excessive misting and haven’t found a solution yet.

I find that the car mists up very quickly in even the smallest rain shower and requires the air con to clear it. The air input was set to automatic and changing it to external only made no difference, anybody else had the problem of excess misting. I wonder if the input is stuck on recirc.
I use Rainex anti fog on the inside of the windscren and I rarely have to put the screen demist on.

Are you running on Normal power? I used to run my MG ZS on ECO all the time until I realised that it was ECO because it effectively stopped the heating and climate control functionality.

Oh the joy of those vacuum operated wipers ?
The Leyland National buses had air operated power steering and brakes so during slow manoeuvring the engine was on tickover so the air compressor wasn't replenishing the air tanks so all of a sudden the steering would become flipping heavy a few seconds before the brakes locked on.
You knew when it had happened to someone because you heard the nuts being revved out of the engine from the other side of the bus park as the driver built up the air pressure.
What fun we had in those days ?

Sorry if this stating the obvious:

I find a newish car (say the first year, but most intense at the start) desorbs plasticiser from all the polymers and glues used in its construction. These semi-volatiles condense on the inside of the windscreen making a vey thin "greasy" layer. In turn that seems to provoke more intense misting up when it is humid (nucleation centres I guess). I have just given the inside of my windscreen a good clean with the regular household window cleaner and it helps a lot. I guess Kayged is getting the same sort of benefit, but going one step further.

As above, I’ve seen similar threads in many other car forums and the consensus at the end seems to be to (a) clean your windscreen thoroughly and keep it clean and (b) keep the aircon on all the time.

If your car gets really damp inside from wet clothing etc. then try going for a drive on a dry day with the temperature set to the hottest and open all windows an inch to allow the damp air to escape.

If you leave it outside all Winter consider some car dehumidifyer bags and leave them on the dash ?.

The usual issue is that air intake is set to recirc or Auto. If you switch it to external it usually fixes the misting up problem
