My MG5 LR 2021 has been making a rumbling noise from the front of the car.

MG Basildon have seen my car and heard the noise and believe it to be the reduction gears. I bought the car new from them and it has just had its 3rd service with them.
A week ago they informed MG about the problem but have not received any communication from MG about the next move which I would assume would be warranty related. This should undeniably be a valid warranty claim I don't understand why MG are so slow in this matter. I have had to hire a car for my holiday in Cornwall this week costing £400.00 as I dare not use it.

Did they advise you not to drive it?

Not exactly, I asked if it would be okay to drive to Penzance and back they said you may get away with it but they would not advise it in case it suddenly got worse and you are a long way from home. I took it home and have left it in my garage, it is not excessively loud yet.
Mileage is just under 29,000.

Had you already ruled out some of the more benign possibilities like the tyres? I've come across plenty of examples where a suspected bearing failure was actually down to a noisy tyre.

As I think I've already said, I have a rumble at low speed, which I thought was brake related, but when it was serviced the pointed out some (harmless) slight distortion on the inner side of the rear tyres. They said I may be able to hear it. I'm going with that being the cause, unless it continues after the tyres are changed.

Yes we looked at that possibility and swapped the wheels from back to the front and no difference. The noise increases on deceleration or regen.

What is happening re my MG warranty work?
Absolutely nothing Toomey's are still waiting to hear back from MG, pathetic state of affairs.
I have just got back from my holiday in Penzance and I must say the unmentionable I actually enjoyed driving my VW T- Cross petrol (on hire) with no worries about where to stop and charge.
Having said that I still prefer driving an EV.
I will be chasing up MG on Monday, curiously I feel a complaint coming on?.
