18 months, 17,000 miles
Foxy has just had her footrest replaced (split plastic), not covered by warranty as considered interior trim and wear and tear. This was £75 all in fitted. I've kept the old one, which looks repairable, because I suspect this might happen again.
Not the best pleased about this - also not be pleased to learn that any investigation after just 3 months from new that doesn't result in a warranty claim is chargeable. I get dealers wanting to deter time wasters but it sticks in my throat that I may be charged their labour rate if MG decree something isn't covered.
I guess it comes with the low-cost price of the car but I am used to 3 years (covers everything except discs, pads and tyres).
Because the dealer couldn't fix it, I've done my own rear-hatch bung adjustment with tape around the latch to get rid of the irritating rattle from the back that has been getting louder and louder recently. The dealer attempted to "grease things", mystifying what they thought that would achieve. We will see how we go.
Now on R59, but still with various bugs, including in CarPlay which is annoying. Getting a bit tired of still having bugs after 18 months.
The pre-flight is still needed:
- (wait for car to boot and then press the brake)
- Select drive mode and regen level (custom mode doesn't save any time)
- Turn off LKA (so as not to die)
- Turn off Speed Sign recognition (because it is constantly wrong and distracting)
- Switch to AEB Alert only (because otherwise right turns trigger emergency braking).
- Plug in phone (otherwise system isn't ready and it won't work).
Though this doesn't take long, it is annoying and with the dealer's last words on AEB ringing in my ears ("our recommended fix is to turn it off"), we are losing faith in MG's ability to do software.
We still love how Foxy drives. Right now though, halfway through our likely ownership, we are thinking beyond MG for our next purchase.
Too many problems. My last new car was a 2017 VW Golf GTi and we had absolutely nothing go wrong in 3 years, just servicing. I miss that.
