Hi All,

I'm new here, having parted with a much loved Outlander PHEV for an HS Hybrid - a bit of a leap into the unknown.

My wife & I both drive the MG & are often in it together, each with a key. I'm getting used to the MG's quirks & coping with the lack of a physical button to open the tailgate, but the triple horn blowing when one exits the vehicle & closes the door & the other remains with a key, is pretty annoying & too often makes us or passers by jump!

I know we could leave a door ajar or keep the car switched on to avoid the tooting, but is there anyway of deactivating this alert. I thought such unnecessary horn use was an offence?

Hi
I had a older HS PHEV which hand a switch inside for the tailgate but this one is better as you have the foot swipe and the looking at the manual there is a switch on the tailgate to open it. I think if there is away of disarming it will be in the info screen but I wouldn’t this there is something like that as you need this for your insurance for one and two to let you know someone is getting into the car, the answer is don’t take both keys with you.

Thanks for reply. No issue using remore, leg swipe or boot lid button to open tailgate. To open from the inside it is case of having power on & going through menu pages to open. We were spoiled with the Outlander where the inside dashboard button could be used any time.
I can see no disarm option anywhere for the key in vehicle toots. I hadn't thought of insurance implications but I still think the toots could contravene UK road traffic law - eg use whilst stationary, no immediate danger or in built up area during the night.
I don't like the idea of one or other of us not having a key on keyrings so will have to remember to use one of the previously mentioned, inconvenient, ways to prevent triple toot. Would have prepared indicator flash or internal beeps.

But rembar if you have ISmart you can unlock the car also drive the car from your smart phone. It’s a alam not a horn, just because they use the horn instead of other type of alam sound there is a difference you use the horn in a different way.
