New MG3 Hybrid+

Is anyone having doubts about the longevity of the battery in this car? I mean if you are going to take 100kW from a 1.83kWh battery ???
I'm not having any doubts myself, I'm still waiting for mine to arrive, but while I'm waiting I've seen enough video reviews to know that the system works.

Compared to our other recent cars, Golf, Civic and Tipo, I would say that the MG3 wins one category outright, power (just). It has an equal first in terms of driver head and leg room. It gets a possible equal first in terms of value for money with the Tipo, but it is hard to make a proper comparison. It comes last (or last equal) in terms of ride, handling, rear leg room and boot space. But, that makes it sound like it is rubbish compared to the rest, when it gets lots of second and third places. All the differences are pretty marginal and I could give it a subjective win of, I think it looks the best.

Hi, I got my mg3 hybrid last week and am very much enjoying it. 1 thing is driving me round the twist, I can't get the dashboard averages re set, I'd like to be able to see exactly what it's achieving milage wise etc from a full tank. There is a blue OK sign on the dashboard with an instruction to press and hold the 'OK' to do this but for the life of me I can't find on OK button anywhere. It more than a little possible that I've completely missed something but I've looked in the manual and on line and am not getting any closer...

Press the double looking paper button then hold ok for 3-4 seconds then press double looking paper button again. These are all on the right side of steering wheel.

As per video above, long press the joystick dead centre

Brilliant, thank you, I was so sure the joystick button was a key I just couldn't get it to work.

Like to know your thoughts on the new MG 3 Hybrid+ which i believe can be ordered now or in next few weeks.
Specs look great as does fuel economy. Think MG might be onto a winner with this new MG3. Hoping to get a test drive in 10 days time.
Tap.Had mine 3 weeks.A white SE that was the deal £17170.From dealer in Tonbridge Wells.Dealer in Hemel Hempstead got same deal.Ordered it 20May got it 31st July.Well worth the wait. What a great car.Ok it is a bit plasticky inside but for the money I paid it is a steal. My ather car was a Honda Jazz 1.3 auto was a great car but lacked power. The Mg is the reverse. No hesitation overtacking. It is one of if not the fastest Hybrid around.I didn't tell my wife that. She loves it.I got £10931 for the Honda through Carwow.Incidentally I got The MG deal through Carwow.Don't bother with the trophy.

Like Ann, we love the trophy and up North we need our heated seats and steering wheel.

I picked up my shiny new "Dynamic Red" MG3 in Trophy Spec on Sunday, already put about 100 miles on it, mostly on daily commuting. I have a 10 mile commute each way every day, through the South Wales Valleys and it's been brilliant. I'm averaging a consistent 60MPG, which i'm very pleased with.

The car spends plenty of its time in EV mode, if it has sufficient charge then under 30MPH the car basically lives in EV mode. Over 30, it's a flip of a coin if the engine will kick in or not.
When you put your foot down the car will rocket off. I'm still very much getting used to this, it's very unusual to me. I keep my Regen braking on max (Irritatingly it resets on each restart of the car, so you'll need to set this every time you get in, but I mapped it to a steering wheel button) and it regens very aggressively when you let off the accelerator but does a fantastic job of pumping charge into the battery. I've seen as high as 40kW going back into the battery, but that was from 70MPH. From 30mph, usually about 20-25kW goes back into the battery for a few seconds, but rapidly fades off. Once under 10MPH regen is almost nothing and you have to get on the brakes proper - No one-pedal driving here.

I moved to this from an MG HS (Petrol, not PHEV) and although it's a bit unusual getting used to a much smaller car, I am enjoying it. The HS was always too big for what I needed.
I use Android Auto on the head unit, with the AAWireless dongle for wireless connectivity (If anyone cares, setting the AAWireless dongle to 190 gets you the nice wide display and plenty of map room).
The USB C port on the center console, next to the AA port appears to have been made wrong, or is just badly implemented. My phone gives me an error when I plug it in there, luckily I bought a low profile USB PD adapter for the 12V socket which works great. I still need to try some other cables, and see if that's perhaps the issue.

The head unit is great, works well. Vast improvement over the HS's buggy piece of crap. My main irritation with the car are twofold.

Firstly, there's a weird bump at the back of the front seats, which is not very comfortable. You can adjust your butt to where it's less of an issue, but if you move again then you fall back onto it. I'm a skinny guy, but if someone was more well endowed in the rear, then perhaps they'd find it comfier. Until then, i'm Princess-and-the-pea'ing it. This isn't enough for me to write off the car, as you can work around it fairly easily, but it is irritating.

Secondly, I hate the "corner 360 camera" feature. When you are going slow (under 15mph) and indicate, the car automatically turns on the 360 camera to "help guide you". This is incredibly annoying, because stuff like leaving a car park is very slow and requires lots of indicating as you come out of the space, leave the aisle, leave the car park, rejoin the main road. And every time it does it, it causes the entire screen to flash and it keeps screwing up Android Auto. I've stopped indicating nearly as much to try and avoid it.
EDIT: If you bring up the 360 Camera, there is a hexagon button on the overhead view. The option to disable this is called "Steering with Peace of Mind" (Which is a terrible name, and also not referenced in the manual at all)

I do actually really like the car, but i've only had it for about 72 hours, so i'm firmly still in the "honeymoon period" - In a month or so I think i'll be able to give a slightly more measured review.
This setting has been so infuriating as it lowers the volume of the music so thank you for sharing!

SE has not got 360° camera. The more you have the more can go wrong. It's got enough malarky.

I quite like that feature and because my 360° camera is mapped to the left hand magic button if I press the button it goes off straight away. I think for the price of the car it’s kinda cool to show off it has 360° cameras as much as possible.
