Hi I get my mg zs ev in another week or so. My sign up with Octopus starts on the 9 Feb,, I have asked for the go and have been told
It will take up to 8 weeks after I, sign up and show a interest, is this normal, they have not given me a date to install the home charger as yet

They are very slow to get the rates and smart meter installed unfortunately, personally we relied on free rapid chargers for the first few weeks

Hi, I think a lot depends on your postcode area. Some get quite a quick smart meter install others wait longer. Once the smart meter is installed Octopus normally swap you onto the Go tariff quite quickly. You don’t say if you have an existing smart meter - this will obviously make a difference in timescale. The home charger is separate to the tariff and the smart meter. Installation again depends on who is doing it and where you are in the Uk. I hope that you enjoy your new car

Thankyou for your replies, at this time I. am with npower and do have a smart meter for both gas, and electric, my highest Daily rate has been about £4, but their kW is 15.pence, hence the change. My nearest free charger is 16 miles away until they finish building. ihe tesco in Mablethorpe a few. Miles away, it still has not put me off.

I have given up with Octopus, my supplier told me that they have only taken your gas not your electric, they quoted me £54 a month, at present I pay £48 for both and I am £344 in credit, so I am staying with my present supplier, they are being taken over by eon. and they have a cracking deal for ev owners, well worth a look. My car will be here a week on monday

I am with Avro. My electricity is 13.49. Still comes out best for me on comparison sites.

Having only had the car a month and under lockdown, I do not yet know how much extra electricity I will need. Currently avoiding some supermarkets so don't how much free Juice I will get.

Making a guess at my expected EV usage and checking different suppliers, I found several could be slightly cheaper for electricity - best being Octopus. But most savings will be wiped out by higher charges on gas.

So a case of waiting and see. My Council also do a scheme where they get group discounts.

I take it 13.49 per KWH, what about standing charge?

I with Outfox for many years on their fixed 20 12.0 tarrif til June 21. (Their customer service is not great but prices are. I had to cancel my direct debit once to get their attention which took 2months or more)
- Elec is 10.78p standing & 12.855p rate
- Gas is 10.78p standing & 2.3p rate.
I'm a high user 5,500 elect & 20,000 gas kWh per annum . That was before the EV. Currently only doing about 100 miles a week with lockdown otherwise 3 times more.

I considered octopus (no smart meter at present, my supplier doesn't do them) and it worked out a lot, lot more.
So might reconsider in June time when the fixed term is up.

15.75p standing charge for both gas and electric
Gas 2.33per kWh. (Most others are around 2.96p)
I can't get any suppliers anywhere near that low, mine is 14.9p for elec 2.9p for gas and 21p standing charge each and this is the best I've found even on comparison sites. ?

On comparison sites, usually need to tick a box to get the full range of comparisons....otherwise they just show the ones they can get commission for which aren't the cheapest, nor the greenest.

When I first went with Avro, I found the unit rates were the same comparing direct and via compare the market.
However the daily charge was around 10p more if you sign up via the comparison site.
Feeding meerkats comes with a cost.

My council regularly promotes collective energy auctions and sometime they can give the best rates.
