Newby questions before ‘pulling the trigger’

Thanks for that. Yeah, from the responses here and watching you tube videos, it does seem that the iSmart needs work doing to it so good to have confirmation from a real world user. What gives me confidence for the future is, looking at screenshots here etc… it looks like the architecture is there and so improvements could come. Mine will be the same model as yours.
Big curve ball in last ten mins though - reading through this forum I’ve discovered the Marvel R! What a car that looks for the money.
Are you maybe talking about the MG4? All over the press and on here at the moment

It will and I’ve already spoke to the dealer about it - he says Q4 ‘23 or Q1 ‘24
Yes that's what I heard, on the plus side, that's about when I would be looking to upgrade......

?

Anybody like to guess at the price tag ????.
I am going pluck a figure out of the air here…….. £39,995 !!!?.
What for the go-faster one? maybe, that would be in line, maybe a bit more LR plus all the bits

Which, looking at the specs, would be a bargain, compared to so many other makes. BUT..... it's still £40,000 for a car!! My first car was a Datsun Cherry, it was £40. How things have changed

I have no idea really, just playing !.
At that money you are starting to tread on the big boys toes.
Middle to late thirty’s, is the best you can hope for I reckon ??.
At around 4 seconds 0 to 60 Mph time, it is going to be making frequent visits to your local tyre shop ?.
Car prices are crazy !.
My first new detached house cost a quarter of £40,000.
Mind you, the way we pay for our cars have changed a LOT over the years.
People tend to budget a monthly amount of money these days, without looking at the screen price of the car.
If it’s affordable monthly, then that’s it !.
Locking into a PCP or leasing plan.
As a man in his senior years, I do worry about folks who get tempted by the merry go round ride of PCP deals.
Rarely reaching the end of the term, without being offered another plan for “ONLY” another £50 per month !.
Consolidated any unpaid months and then adding them onto the new plan.
You start on your first plan, placing down a small deposit ( usually covered by the value of your trade in ) and then what feels like a very affordable monthly payment.
A number of cars down the road and the deposit has increased or the monthly payments have now become expensive.
In creasing the term from 3 years to 4 years now to make it more affordable is the last throw of the dice.
At some point, you want to get off the merry go round.
This is when the sudden reality hits home !.
How many people actually save towards paying off the ballon payment at the end ?.
Not many I fear.
The real danger with these type of deals are that they put people behind the wheel of expensive cars, that they can not afford to buy.
Average Joe earning an average wage, driving around in a very expensive rented car.
Buy what you need, not what you want !.

We have got to a very American way of buying things. You are bang on, people are actually not bothering to look at the 'price' anymore.

As a fully 'getting there' old git, I can, and do, buy with money..... Not credit. And we do count ourselves lucky to be able to.

We did actually take out a PCP for this new car, but will be paying it off in a month, one thing I'm grateful to Miles for letting us know about ;)

After a lot of thinking, and putting off calls from the dealer to collect the car, I just don’t think I can do it - too many compromises, even for the money. So, if anyone whose waiting for a Trophy Connect LR, with pan roof etc.. is interested, Cars2 at Barnsley will have one ‘available now’ within the next day or 2. I’d asked them to do me a rear window tint, which I know I’ll have to pay for - so, it will be in white with rear tints done and paid for. Thanks to everyone who’s replied and tried to help.

So the second prospective owner passes on the car - it'll think that nobody wants it at this rate. ?

Are you going to buy a MG4 instead then @TigerCP ?.
Why after waiting SO long for the ZS EV facelift, why have you suddenly decided to turn down the car ???.

That's a shame, but I'm sure the car will go to a good home!

I must be wrong then, but I thought that the new ZS EV, unlike the first gen ones, did have window tinting. Even the pre July 2022 orders that still had a pano roof.

I have to agree, its seems all smoke, mirrors, shiny suits & cars to entice the unwary. If I was to seek monthly payments I would get a loan from my bank and pay for the car Outright, then sell privately when the time comes. If i could not get a loan for the amount, then I cannot afford it and walk away.

Yeah - The ZS EV facelift model does come with the windows slightly tinted.
But I did feel that it did not offer enough protection, therefore I have had an additional light film added to the windows from the “B” post back.
The transition from the factory tint from the “A” pillar to the now slightly darker glass from the “B” back, is very gradual and looks very suited to the car.
The rear windscreen is slightly darker than the side windows, making the transition complete.
We had the windows tinted in our original ZS EV ( Gen1 ) from the “B” pillar back.
It really worked well in hot weather, but because the front windows where NOT tinted, from the side view, it looked a bit like two cars stuck together, under certain light conditions ?.
There was no gradual transition, it looked a bit odd some days.
Hence the reason why I gave the tinting process a bit more thinking time on the face lift model.
For me, it is bang on now !.
It offers good protection and looks totally natural.

We have never got around to having the windows tinted in our Gen 1 ZS EV, but we really should have. Its get very hot in the sun sometimes, especially with the pano roof.

I believe that the new orders have stronger privacy glass at the rears, presumably in addition to mild tinting all over, but the pano roof has gone.
