Octopus changing its mind.

Just be guarded what you say on here re Octopus. I was reported to them by a member, a warning was issued to me by Octopus, when I took them to task about it they agreed they had got it wrong, they had lied to me and that I was brought to their attention by a member of this form (you can see who if you do a little digging). They also confirmed that my operation of IOG was all within T&C's and they had no issues.
Following all of this I looked around, found Tomato and moved to them, to date I have now taken over 240 people with me away from Octopus. Tomato is substantially cheaper, doesn't have the flaky software changing charging schedules and doesn't have the resident grass from here.
That is disgusting behaviour, unbelievable, from a firm that is supposed to be a Which? Recommended Provider. It's not my place to say, but they would be very interested to hear of this, I'm sure.

When I was thinking about getting my system, Octopus seemed to be a no-brainer. Excellent rates, and their customers seemed very satisfied. Since then the two people who were most enthusiastic about them, John and the electrician who fitted my system, have left them.

As you know I preached from the rooftops how good Octopus was, I was crest fallen with the actions that took place and the lies coming out of Octopus in the end. Its a shame really but had it not been for this incident I wouldnt have found Tomato who so far have been brilliant. I switched to Tomato on my retail store too, making a massive saving over EDF who was our previous supplier. EDF standing charge was increasing from £0.25 to £8.50 per day with a unit cost of £0.31. Tomato have given standing charge £0 and unit cost £0.232, absolute no brainer. The transfer in both cases for me was flawless.

Agreed and from a member of this forum too. I'm not sure that Which would be interested, I'm sure they get plenty of income from Octopus directly and indirectly.

I would have been a bit irritated with Octopus if they'd introduced this thing with changing the charging slots open and above board with the note appearing on the app immediately. However, it's not that hard to work round it so I might not have been particularly mad. If they'd even given a coherent explanation when I first emailed them, I'd probably have accepted it. But the runaround I've been given from multiple people, some avoiding the question entirely, some saying that charging slots, once allocated, shouldn't change, and some hinting that they might change, has been ridiculous. Even now there seems to be no recognition that this might cause significant problems for many customers.

They are supposed to be independent.
They are indeed but look at Trustpilot reviews, they too are supposed to be independent yet there are companies recruiting reviewers to give 5* reviews on there. Which is a business, it needs to make money, theyre not going to pay any attention to a few disgruntled customers of the giant Octopus Energy, money talks always.

£8.50 a day?!!!???? Jeez, I'd be bankrupt by the end of month 1 😱. Is anyone actually using their service ?

Business supply charges are an absolute disgrace, people have no idea. The industry squeezes businesses to make up for consumer rules and caps.
Ah, that'll be me not reading it all through properly. 🙈
