Here's an interesting one, for several reasons. We were overnighting in Inverness after going to the ballet, and took the opportunity to put the car into a slow charger from about 10%SOC. At around 7:30 this morning I walked the half-mile or so to the chargers and all looked well. I clicked the button to unlock the car, and collected the cable, which we keep in the frunk. (We bought that frunk.at after some recommendations here). I then open the driver's door and unlatched the bonnet, while standing outside the car in the light rain.
And the alarm went off. Hoot-Hoot, Flash-flash, the lot.
Oh well, at least the car has an alarm, but I wondered what triggered it. I wondered if it was to do with the fact that the fob wasn't in the car when I undid the bonnet. So I locked again, then unlocked and stretched into the car with the fob. All was well. I don't believe the car was tampered with in any way overnight. I had a good look around.
Here's the additional interesting bit. By the time I got back to the hotel, I had an email message:
"The abnormal invasion into your vehicle (***XXX) has triggered an alarm on 24-01-2025 07:37:58 GMT."
(I've removed our VIN number, but they only sent the last 3 characters, quite correctly, anyway)
All of that, except for the oddity of the alarm triggering,
seemed A Good Thing.

I've had 3 instances of opening the boot setting of the alarm over the last year. I've yet to see anything common between the 3 occasions when it happened, let alone a reason for it. The car was locked and the key in my pocket on each occasion 🤷.

Interesting, I never sit down to open the bonnet to get into my frunk, haven't had the alarm yet, or intrusion messages. You'd expect the alarm to disarm when you unlock the car really...
Yes, it's both comforting and concerning at the same time. It's not impossible someone walking by idly tried the door handle or something, but I would have thought the hoot would have sounded when I opened the door, in that case.

The alarm goes off when you lift the bonnet when the car is locked.
I've done it a couple of times, pulled the bonnet release lever, shut the door and locked it, by force of habit, then gone and lifted the bonnet and the alarm goes off and sends a message to the app.

I think I've worked out what you mean, but the car was definitely unlocked at the time. The alarm also went off a moment after I snapped the inside release. It may have been Just One Of Those Things.
Remember we live in an area where, years ago, when we had a Range Rover, someone came to us and said worriedly, "There's a red flashing light in your car" "Yes, that's the alarm." "Oh, right." <PAUSE> "We don't really lock cars here."
Sometimes I feel like explaining "I'm not locking, I'm switching the car off"
