Petition MG about Driver Settings

Don’t include me in your “all”. I always leave it on and don’t have a problem with it. Very occasionally it will beep and even more rarely it will tug slightly, but not a big problem. Maybe it got better in the Xpower.
Nope, it didn't get better in the Xpower. The thing I think most people are missing is that LKA's functionality varies wildly depending on the roads. I live in the depths of green Dorset, where road markings are usually non existant and roads are narrow. A slight twitch that you aren't expecting because the car thinks it should can get you buried in a tractor. On A roads and in town LKA seems fine in my Xpower.

My MG4 was updated last December. Before the update I only turned off the audible alert. After that the LKA became dangerous. I end up constantly fighting the steering as it randomly twitches right or left on country roads. The issue isn't the twitch but the force it does it with. Sharp bends on roads without white lines can end up with the car trying to take you straight on rather than round the corner. I'm booking in for the next service shortly. Hopefully it will be better.

You clearly need an lka update. The latest version is way milder.
How about these roads? Do they have markers on the sides? Solid or dashed?

No markers on the side but because the verge is higher than the road (because of drainage ditches) there's a clear contrast between the grass, the worn earth and the road and it probably looks like a kerb to the camera.

Incredible that two years in some owners are still having issues with this.
MG should have ensured that all cars were updated during annual servicing and all new cars had the newest update at PDI

I'm on R59 and the ELK is a lot better but far from perfect.

Weirdly I seem to get the most pushing and pulling of the wheel in bright sunny conditions. Seems the shadows from overhead foilage wreak havoc with the sensors.

Here is an example of a road that really confuses ANY LKA system. It its the A199 near Wallyford. It is a 40mph road so you are travelling at a speed where LKA will be active.

As you can see from the picture there are 3 islands in the middle of the road and at each one the cycle lane markings move from the edge to the centre of the lane.

The LKA does not know if it should be avoiding the island or following the road marking that is no longer at the edge of the road.

Confuses the wife's Mini as well as the MG4.

No issue with LKA on some ev's

The LKA is not just a EV thing lots and lots of new tech full vehicles have the same issues, try turning a Skoda over a line without putting the turn signal on.

g day absolutely no problems with my safety devices will have owned my car for 1year next week 19.000 km and no problems.
Just free fuel from the sun it’s amazing.

Maybe your roads are different, but here in the UK even MG have admitted the LKA issue after a damning Which magazine report.

MG may have admitted it to some extent but they have done nothing about it! They claimed they were going to resolve it to Which? probably just to get them of their backs but none of us have been contacted for an update. I hope the guys who are spending 50K+ on Cybersters are going to get a better level of support (although we should all have working systems!)

I've been a subscriber to Which? for many years - as an audio professional for 60 years, I find their reviews of audio equipment woefully poor. And I assume that their motoring reviews are equally lacking... after all, this is an organisation for consumers, who have axes to grind, so you'll find that, just like this forum, there will be a core of people who have had bad experiences with their cars and report those, while many many others are quite satisfied and won't bother to comment.

For me, the LKA issue is no worse in the MG than, for example, in the VW EVs, which I've driven - and there is no chance of MG allowing drivers to switch LKA off permanently until the NCAP guidelines change.

We know for some that LKA on the MG4 is OK, but I can assure you that for many it is not. Having owned an Leaf, an E-Golf, a SEAT Mii electric and driven many other cars with LKA I can categorically say the LKA on the MG4 is by far the worst I have ever experienced. Which? are not making this up!

Mate I have a Cupra born an MG4 and a Megane etech on my drive, I have previously owned other EVs and the MG4 is the poorest implementation of onboard safety systems I've come across.

The main issue being there are actually some cars out there where it is working pretty much as it should and others where it is absolutely terrible.

Two years in and MG should have all cars working smoothly and safely by now.

LKA is better on some cars than others although none that I have owned have LKA that I don't want to turn off.

I think the LKA situation is exacerbated on the MG4 by the fact that we all have a crazy mixture of software versions for infotainment and underlying software components (I cannot remember the proper term for the software modules). Consequently we have different users reporting radically different behaviour and experiences. Take this and combine it with people living in different (urban and rural) environments and we get a wide spectrum of experiences.

Sometimes I see people saying "It's not that bad" and assuming that it isn't for others but we need to consider that other people have different software (maybe different generations of hardware component) and different roads. Then there is human subjectivity on top of that.

I hate MG4 LKA but R59 makes it easy for me to disable it and this was a game changer. MG say they are releasing a software update that fixes things. Lets hope they do so quickly, effectively, and make it widely and freely available. If they do their will be queues at the garages.

I found the following road near me to be one that LKA struggles with...

I have to ask why you have been a subsciber for years then if you find them woefully poor ?

The point here is that MG admitted the LKA fault following the Which Report and promised updates for free which haven't come.
