Just a heads up as I haven't seen it on here... I had a service plan with Thompson First MG, manage by PlanMyService LLP. I knew Thompson First had gone into liquidation but it turns out so did their service plan company on 11th October. They were still collecting my Direct Debit but I had no way of getting my car serviced through the plan.
A nice chap at their Administrators has talked me through everything and was gobsmacked that the Direct Debit hadn't been cancelled, he's sorting out an initial refund of payments since October and hopes to do something about the payments prior to that too.
Let me know if you are in the same situation and I'll pass on his details.
Peace ya'll.

Might be worth contacting your bank as well.

I have just had my MG ZS EV serviced at Arnold Clark of whom have only recently signed up to use Plan My Service. My car was serviced in May 2024. MG themselves have came back after checking my plan and I can go to any MG service dealership in the UK for which they will honour the service plan. My original concern came about when I first took out the service plan online with Macklin Motors at Newbridge Edinburgh and they declined to view my car as they were too busy so with enquiries Macklin Motors and MG both concluded that the plan wasn't specific to only one dealership and was transferable. I think your information is wrong.

Great that you managed to get them to honour it, I couldn't get anyone near Cheltenham to honour it and they have now refunded me fully since my last service in March 2023 when Thompson First were still afloat. I've just checked on Companies House and Plan My Service LLP seem to have been revived and is now marked as 'Active', when I went through all this back in March it was registered as 'Dormant' as the filing history shows since June 2023. So I think the information was right as the time of writing, but now Plan My Service are back in action as your experience shows.

Hi all - any update on Plan my Service this last month? Our car service was through Ken Brown in Harlow, and havng moved house now means we need to find a different Kia provider. I've just cancelled our monthly Direct Debit. Victoria

I just signed up this morning for a 5 year contract. I thought I was signing up with MG and it turns out that it is Planmyseervice, so I sent this email: "
I need to ask who is Planmyservice LLP who is the agent for Sandicliffe who will be collecting and holding the money for the service contract. I thought it was MG themselves. Just worried about what if these people go bust, what protection do I have?

Also, you said if I move location that another MG dealer would be able carry on the service contract, is that still the case and how would they access the funds that I have paid in?" I await a reply and will update.

I appear to be in the same situation, having started a plan in February, but being told the plan was not the dealership's plan but an MG plan, who say the reverse of that.

The Administrator's details could be very useful, as I'm considering ending my Direct Debit payments and attempting to get a refund.

Regards - John

It's not straight forward. I took out a plan and cancelled it the same day when I got the contract through. There are 2 third party companies involved, one that collects the payments and another that holds your funds and pays out when servicing is done. The funds are supposed to be ring fenced from receivers and supposedly guaranteed by MG. So, I cancelled straight away and told the dealer that they should make customers aware of the set up. I thought I was taking out a contract with MG and that they hold the funds, obviously not. It is fraught with problems and administration fees if you sell your car early or move to another location.Far less risk just to pay normally when a service is due, at least you are in control

Thanks for the response.

My problem is that I dont have the contact details of anyone at Planmyservice LLP.

Planmyservice LLP is only the conduit to collect your payments, so I wouldn't bother trying to track them down. The funds are held by Edynamics. I do have an email address, but I'm not sure if this will just connect to my local dealer, Sandicliffe, Loughborough, if it does hten it is very naughty as it misleads you into thinking you are emailing MG - I would be gratful if you could update here. However I suggest that you email MG UK at the address I was given : [email protected] and ask for clarification. If they are underwriting Edynamics then they have an obligation to sort this out for you. I can't find anything about Edynamics except there is a company listed at Companies House called Edynamics Limited. It is really fast practice for them all to hide behind misleading names, no wonder people get conned!

You could aslo try this email address, whihc I know works and is MG: [email protected].

I'm sure you can cancel your contract but they will try to charge an administration fee, if they do tell them the reason you are cancelling is because you were misled and if they insist aon making an admin charge that you will report them to the ombudsman, who I'm sure would love to get their teeth into what's going on.

Good luck!

I find it easier to set up a standing order to put a monthly amount into a savings account and take some out when the servicing is due.

We do this for all our 'big bills' such as house insurance, car insurance etcetc and recently even private dental when they stopped doing their 'scheme'.
Better to pay the monies to yourself and get interest ( premium bonds? ?), certainly works out cheaper than most monthly payments schemes and often cheaper than annuals.

Just looked at Planmyservice on TrustPilot. A not encouraging 2.6 stars. When I rang the company just now the message included an email address for Edynamics. enquries[at]edynamix.com

An email adress cited in an email to me a year ago (mgserviceplans[at]planmyservice.com) no longer works.

Edynamix only has one review TrustPilot. It is five star and effusive, which is always suspicious when the contributor has only post just one review.

I think you are taking a high risk using these people. MG should be doing the service plan not third parties.
Thanks for replying. The key word is should. My query to MG Customer Services got a response that included, "Unfortunately, as customer service, we don’t handle any form of service plans."

Service plans are profitable so why doesn't MG get involved? They give the benefit to dealers. Perhaps dealers can make more from them by skimping on the servicing, e.g. not replacing a part that they would happily charge for if someone else picked up the tab?

I am very disappointed that the recent change of MG franchise in Eastbourne has led to me having to try and sort out where I stand with the service plan I signed up for a year ago.

If you read my previous posts, you will see I signed up and cancelled the same day after I got a copy of the contract and saw who was involved. In particular I said this:

I'm sure you can cancel your contract but they will try to charge an administration fee, if they do tell them the reason you are cancelling is because you were misled and if they insist on making an admin charge that you will report them to the ombudsman, who I'm sure would love to get their teeth into what's going on.

If it were me I would ask for a refund of the money you gave paid less any costs of actual servicing they have carried out, see what they say and get a solicitor involved or use the county court to recover your money. They should refund you but if not proceed with recovery. From what I saw there is no protection of your funds if they go bust

Thanks for the further info. I will post when / if I get a reply from eDynamix.

Having looked at my paperwork for the service contract, it is minimal and I meticulously file documents. All I have is an email setting up a direct debit. Very puzzling.
