I have a fully electric MG 4 vehicle.

I am trying to connect my iPhone 15 Pro to the car’s multimedia screen but cannot establish a stable connection.

I purchased two CarPlay adapters that worked for a few days, but now I can’t connect with them at all.

I checked at two of the company’s service garages in Israel, and they claimed the issue is with my phone.

However, my iPhone is new, and I was able to connect it easily to three cars owned by my children: a Toyota Corolla, a Hyundai i20, and a Nissan Qashqai.

It connected seamlessly to all of them.

Any recommendations for a solution would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Didi.

Do you have Carplay adapters that allow you to set an "Startup delay"? If so, set it to 30 seconds. That seems to work for everyone who has experienced similar issues.
Some people also find they need to "forget" the cars own Bluetooth connection and just connect to the adapter's Bluetooth.
I don't have that issue, but some have reported it.
Does the phone work correctly when connected via a USB cable?

Hi.
Thanks for your prompt reply.
I have done all the above suggestions.
I have made my own user manual for the Carlinkit 5.0. based on the FAQ web site.
I don’t understand why the adapter should be connected via WiFi as well via Bluetooth?
Since I have changed my iPhone from 13pro to 15pro. I have tried to order original USB to type C cable to check it.
Hope that the cable will be the answer.
Let’s hope
Didi

CarPlay runs over a wifi connection, but it needs Bluetooth to know the car is / you are near and to make the initial connection. Android Auto is a little different I understand but that’s not very relevant to your case anyway I think.

I use a CarPlay dongle and it works fine with a 30 second delay, it needs this because the car takes a little while to get everything ready to accept CarPlay, by which time most dongles time out and stop trying to connect.

I have an iPhone 15 Plus and sometimes my connection cuts out just in the middle of my drive, so I do suspect that the current iOS has an issue with CarPlay (may or may not be in combination with the Mg software) or perhaps it’s some sort of local interference. But I wouldn’t completely dismiss the phone. It once went completely nuts (skipping through the playlist in rapid succession) because I accidentally paired it to my Bluetooth sunglasses while connected to CarPlay. It would fix itself until I restarted the car and hard closed the music app on the phone.

When trying cables some people report issues with Apple cables, and also with generic cables, but Anker seems to always work for people.

I'm curious as to why this thread has the Bargain banner attached to it.
I believe that any post has the option to add a banner, and the only banner enabled at present is the bargain banner. My guess is that the OP accidentally pressed the button, or wanted to assert that his car's phone connection is cheap and nasty.

The OP or a moderator can remove it. Indeed it has been removed recently by another moderator.

Hi Didi. I am from Israel too. I have similar problem with Carplay. MG4 is very sensetive to the cable you use. Try to use different cables to find one that works well. Anker may be the good one, even better than original. I also use Carlinkit. With Android it's working fine but with Carplay it makes connection after a significant delay, like after a few minites of driving. But once connected it's working OK.

Hi.
Thanks for your kind message.
I have tried several adapters the last one is the Carlinkit 5.0. As I wrote it was working excellent after modifying the setup of delay and some other parameters.
Unfortunately it stopped working and since then it seems to me that the multimedia screen is not recognizing the adapter.
I have also used different sets of cables original Samsung USB to type C none of them was working properly.
I don’t know what to do.
Hope to get from the forum some others insights.

USB C port is not for AA/CP. Only USB A.

I use an Ottocast adapter, but have a usb switch inline.
I had so many connection issues with a different brand, that I took it back.
The MG4 takes approximately 30 seconds from opening the car and sitting on the seat for the head unit to be ready for inputs.
Using the usb switch lets me turn on the adapter when I know the head unit is ready, and after changing to OPD and turning off LKA..
It also means that if on a short drive, and I’m not needing CarPlay, it stays off and is not trying to connect….

Hi.
I have tried to use my old iPhone 13pro.
With the same adapters that I have used in my MG4 It worked well. !!!
I checked my iPhone 15pro with the same adapters on other cars (Toyota or Hyundai) that have CarPlay connections and it worked well.
To my understanding the conclusion is not my iPhone it is the interface to the multimedia screen.

I’ve owned my MG4 for almost two years and struggled with getting CarPlay to work consistently during that time. Whenever I connected it using a USB-C cable, it would work for about five minutes before disconnecting.

After some trial and error, I discovered the issue was linked to the auto blind spot camera setting. This feature automatically displays the side camera view on the screen when slowing down and signaling. I noticed that every time the camera activated, it caused CarPlay to disconnect.

Since turning off the auto blind spot camera setting, CarPlay has been working perfectly. Hopefully, this helps anyone experiencing a similar issue!

What R version of software are you on? Sounds like an update might fix this issue.

That is a very useful post, thanks. Let's hope it's a software issue that can be fixed by an MG free fix.
