Radio stops once my phone gets a message, or I unlock it.

I have a Samsung S22 which is connected via bluetooth to the MG4 no issues. What is driving me INSANE is the minute I get a whatsapp, even when the phone is locked, or I pickup and unlock my phone, the radio stops immediately and it either goes silent or starts to play whatever was last playing on my phones music app.

My phone can be locked and in my bag, and once I get a message, the radio immediately stops playing. Is there any way around this?

Hi Laurie. Might be worth looking at the radio freeze thread. Radio Freeze?

Annoying, yes. This has been covered elsewhere in this forum, eg, Radio & Bluetooth irritation

Bottom line is to turn off Audio (the music component) in the phone via the gear icon next to the car BT connection. This still allows for Calls & Contact Sharing to remain connected. There's also verious phone notifcation settings that can be turned off as well.

Something similar happened to me yesterday. I was sitting in the car fiddling with my phone and listening to the radio. I clicked on a link to a YouTube video and the car immediately stopped playing the radio and tried to play the YouTube video - without success, as far as I could see. When I exited the video the radio didn't come back on, and I had to mess around with the infotainment screen to get it back.

I'll try the advice in the preceding post.
