My MG4 short range purchased March 2023was serviced in the middle of November and it had one software update (they were very unclear about this but I had at least one). I found that the range had been reset so wasn't;t taking account of current driving and temperature.

Yesterday driving back from Norwich to Stamford I stopped in Necton to charge enough to get home so stopped when it was saying about 85 miles.

But a few miles down the road I saw that charge left was 31% and it was saying 110 miles range. This would mean over 300 at full charge which is obviously complete nonsense for the short range!

I was able to see the range come down much faster as I drove home than the miles driven.

Have a loom at a few photos from the screen driving having charged overnight to 94%. In short

94% 279 miles
72%. 195 miles (having driven 34.6 miles)
45% 109 miles
38%. 88 miles

Any thoughts on this? Can it be fixed?

What does your Accumulated Total trip show? (Software updates at service often resets this counter, which means the GoM resets to WLTP range. Driving profile thereafter determines how the GoM adjusts).

Well it’s showing 135 miles. It’s wrong since I’ve done well over a thousand miles since the service. It just seemed to suddenly reset itself half way home yesterday. The thing is the range it’s showing is impossible as it should be 234 miles at 100% and it’s showing 279 miles at 94%.

🤷‍♂️

The resetting was then probably because those 1000+ miles have taken 100+ hours ... the counter automatically resets when the time counter exceeds 99 hours and 59 minutes.

It appears your accumulated total reset 5 hours ago, so I agree with siteguru’s diagnosis.

It’s inconvenient and to be honest a silly thing to happen on a new car, but nothing to worry about. After a bit of driving the GOM will figure it out again and all should go back to what you are used to.
