Hi all

I’m confused about the rear brake discs and how to source them. I’ve read on one hand they’re only available via MG but then I see sellers on eBay selling them (advertised for MG ZS electric) for quite a reasonable price.

Does anybody know if the ones from eBay will do?

Have attached two photos of how my back ones currently look… is this a replace asap situation?

It's difficult to gauge the depth of the scoring from a photograph but they still look serviceable to me.

Do they need replacing or just using a bit more?
The brakes on an EV don't get a lot of wear due to KERS.
Try stamping on them to clean up the discs.

Only if appearance is your main issue.

Remember that your rear discs only contribute about 30% to the overall business of braking in a normal vehicle.

Much less in your ev due to regen braking

As above, they need to be given a really hard time once a week.

What's the difference in price? is it worth risking it?

Slight addition required to correct the above on rear brake wear. Using the cruise cruise control disables regen and uses the rear brakes, increasing their wear. I also have symptoms on uneven wear due to this.

I highly doubt the wear would be excessive entirely due to friction braking Vs regen braking on cruise.

Plenty of ICE cars after all have adaptive cruise and no electric motor to regen brake and don't have an issue entirely due to this feature.

The real issue is actually the reverse - lack of use due to regen use.
