Remote not detected MG5 SW (2021)

Hello,
Hopefully someone can help with this; my wife is currently stranded away from home and is unable to start our MG5 as it is saying that the remote is not detected, even when placed in the cup holder as described in the manual. She has changed the battery in the remote, and has removed the 12v battery for a few minutes and neither has worked to fix it. We have a second key, but it is in a different city and we have no way of getting it to her.

Any advice or suggestions on how to start the car would be greatly appreciated.

Agreed, I'd love to know if anyone has had a similar issue and if so how it was resolved, though. I'm at a total loss. Also any idea if something like this might be covered under warranty? (15k miles and 2 years old).

The AA will be covered by MG assit if you got it serviced by a MG dealer.
Has she tried locking it up and walking away for 10 minutes?
 
Thank you for all of your replies. @aled, yes she has confirmed it is in properly, the remote is able to lock and unlock the car just fine, it is just not detected inside the vehicle. @Jomarkh I had it serviced at the MG dealership in October, but didn't get any info about the AA renewal (I had it for a year when I bought the car). Should I have, then? Also, yes, she has tried leaving it for 10 mins, but it didnt make a difference. She has left it for the night and is getting the AA out in the morning (thankfully my father has personal cover with the AA).
 
To update the thread, the spare key did end up working, and it appears that the first key has lost its coding somehow. The AA driver said that they have come across this issue several times, and it is known to MG. The car and keys are now with the MG dealership so I will update this thread again if I hear any other news or updates.

Did the AA come out on your MG policy i.e. did you check that the cover was extended with your service?

Yes, it was covered, despite them not telling me. Also they got it into the workshop and both keys were working just fine ?‍♀️ they couldn't find any faults either.
 
That's not so good as it lines you up for another failure in the future :(
