Figures at the moment show EVs (other than first generation Nissan Leafs) being about even with ICE cars for durability after ten years. However these data come from cars made ten years ago. New cars now will be better I think. An order of magnitude fewer moving parts to go wrong. Compared to an EV, an ICE looks like a nightmare of complications and work-rounds and inefficiencies.
Motors likely to last 800,000 miles and no big deal to replace anyway. Batteries looking good for 300,000 to 400,000 miles. Software capable of being updated to improve the car beyond what it was when it was new.
Better think about rust protection.
(You're right, the batteries are heavy and that's maybe half the weight of the car. There isn't a lot more.)
