I've just realised* I've had my ZS Since July last year and its not been serviced. Have I messed up the warranty? I've got it booked in now for next month (first slot available)

*Usually buy older cars where warranties are thing long gone!!

There is usually a flexibility period after the annual service date, laid down by the manufacture.
This delay can be due to wait times for the service department / holidays etc.
As your car could now be 3 months past its annual service date, this maybe a problem unfortunately.
If your dealer WILL be willing to service the car of course, but I would ask them to check IF your warranty is still valid after this has been carried out.
If the dealer completes the service, your breakdown cover will be renewed.
Even if you are a low milage case, the car has to be presented annually in order to confirm with the T&C’s of the 7 year warranty.

Spoke to the dealer... Problem...

It was registered in Apr-23, we bought it in July-23 so it should have been serviced 6 months ago. The dealer didn't tell us that.

I read on here a while ago that sombody paid for the missed service and got the warranty re-enstated. I would be worth talking to your server center.

Service centre are singularly useless but I'm going to speak to MG once the service is done next week. Hopefully they'll restore it!

@Mcgrst How about this idea ?.
“Sorry - But I was unaware that the car was not equipped with any type of “in built” service reminder, like my previous vehicles.
Unfortunately I therefore mistakenly missed the first annual service date in error”.
It sounds like the dealer is only interested in taking your money for the service and nothing else ?.

Ah, that is brilliant and quite true. Even cars which I'd given up servicing kept pestering me. One garage reset the counter on a very old Focus for me very kindly!

well, I am in the same situation after I bought mine second hand. Strictly speaking, you missed annual service and that will affect warranty... How, it's anyone's guess.
In my case, I just went ahead with a "catch-up service" and then another "mileage" one within few months, haven't asked anything of anyone - sometimes best not to poke around asking for trouble.
If something happens, I'll claim under warranty but I'll have to accept that it might be a bit of a fight .. My guess is that it depends on what goes wrong and how lucky you are; something that regular service would not affect should/could be covered .. but, it may be an uphill struggle and a costly one ...

First, read warranty cover in detail - not everything is covered for 7 years. Some things are only 6 months, some 12 months ... so unless your battery pops, I wouldn't worry much about the rest as it may not be covered any more anyway ...

It's mostly the battery that worries me tbh. Although the odds of something happening are low at this stage if it did fail the car is near scrap.

The battery should be OK if there are no problems after a year but should something go wrong, it would be worth fighting for it to be still covered by warranty since servicing doesn't really have anything to do with it ...

I agree ?.
If the warranty claim was small, then it would likely be satisfied with out any major issues.
If however the warranty claim could be sizeable for instance, then that is when the service history of the car would come under close scrutiny.
If a glitch could be found here, then this maybe may come back to bite hard.
We all understand how it works, any excuse to reject a claim will be used in evidence.
Even with a 100% service record, there is no absolute guarantee a large claim will be satisfied IF any there are any other mitigation issues that could have been avoided etc.
The strength / integrity of any warranty can only be truely tested, at the time of a claim.
Only THEN do you know how good they really are !.
