SIM requirement

I'm in Australia and have a MG ZS EV LR, apparently we are supposed to have a Vodafone SIM card in the car but there is no sign whatsoever that there is one in mine, there are no connectivity options in the setting menu other than 'Bluetooth' and there is no 'Vodafone' showing on the Infotainment screen with the service bars - anyone else experience this in Australia? Should a service be able to fix this?
It's an esim not your regular sim you can pull out. It's also a m2m esim meaning much harder to update to another operator.
Finally I suspect they are using custom APN features which again won't be supported by consumer grade esims

Does this mean it likely has access to all the networks in your country and seamlessly switches between them as you drive?
That depends on the provider.
M2M can mean a specific provider or a MVNO like Soracom.
If the eSIM provider has multi operator access then yes if the car is out of coverage of 1 then it will have the option to swap to a different network.

It may be somewhere in the Engineer menu? 🤷‍♂️

Or perhaps you need to get into the core Android settings. (There's a thread on XDAForums about "hacking" the MG4).

I hope to buy an ZS EV in thailand soon (if the booking list will be opened again). Here the ZS EV also has an esim (there is no model without it). Is there any way to disable the esim or the connection with the network provider?

There might be cases in the future that I prefer not to be connected and avoid big brother is watching you.

Hello. I realize your post is old, though I was searching for help with my MG ZS EV SIM/connectivity. I saw that you were due to purchase from Thailand. I was successful in 2022 purchasing mine from Thailand and shipped to Bermuda. Were you also successful getting a car from there, as I would love to exchange our experiences with the Thai version of the car. Thank you.

You might be better posting on the ZS EV forum as this is the MG4 forum. Peter le grand hasn't been on the forums since 1st October 2022.
