Looking at the MG4 EV manual, the SR supports 6.6kW AC charging and the LR support 11kW. That is if I have read it right and if it is correct! Can anyone confirm this yet?

I can’t confirm or deny the above, but if it is the case it doesn’t matter in my option - 11kw ac charging is only really for houses or business that have 3 phase incoming power and suitable charging pod.

The reality is virtually all home chargers are 7kw ac or you’ll use a rapid charger which is DC and can do 100Kw+.

It is useful for Type 2 public chargers too, no?

Yes 7 or 22kw is the public AC charging standard at the moment. As for the 3 phase talk I assume the UK MG4 is single phase unless someone can tell me if L2 and L3 on the charging socket has connector pins.
I cannot find a actual MG4 specifications that states that UK LR models have 11kw inverters. ?it has as it would be handy but it's not the end of the world if it's old school 6.6kw

Ah wasn’t aware that was the new standard, can’t say it’s something I will ever be using - cheap charging at home or rapid charging for me.

Tesco (no time restrictions), Sainsbury's ( 2 hours) and Chargeplace Scotland (no time restrictions) near me are all free and walkable distance to home. Current 3 month charge cost to date 45p. Wonderful

To be clear not all , if any are 11kw. Podpoint I believe are still 7kw. So most are legacy 7kw but it varies with also 7/ 22kw offered as being the new choices going forward. It makes no real odds to me if only 6.6kw inverter is fitted but 11kw would be a bonus.

So apologies. It looks like 7kw or 22kw AC is the offering on stations such as Shell recharge etc.. 11kw is a European standard not a UK standard!

Every day is a school day.

Noted, thanks.

Had a look at ZapMap near me. Saw a number of 22kW chargers where people have reported an 11kW charge, so might still be useful.

I can't begin to describe how many queries we get at work (Pod Point) from people angry they're only getting 7kW or 11kW from a 22kW charge point.
There's really only the Zoe and the Smart EVs that can charge at 22kW in the UK, and even then the Zoe has numerous issues with earthing across a lot of public charging because they skimped on the internal converter.

Would be interesting if the MG4 can charge at 11kW on three phase as on quite a few rapids with 3 connectors, like Gridserve, BP Pulse and Pod Point at least if the CCS was in use you could still get a decent rate from the AC port.

Back to my original question. Can someone with a SE LR and Trophy check if the type 2 socket on the car has L2 and L3 pins fitted? If not this conversation is void surely
