Software update and knocking noise

Well let’s put it like this, when you buy a computer operating system like windows or google or an Apple phone do you then have to pay for updates or are they provided free because you have already invested in the product...

I would be interested to know why you think a software upgrade that provides improvements to the MG should be a cost free?

I'm happy to say why it should be FOC.
I've brought and paid for the car and it is a good car let down by some very annoying features, which have been resolved in the update. I couldn't use LKA and pro pilot as every time it wanted to warn you with distracting noises so that was always turned off. The car triple beeping the horn if someone got out or in which is illegal use of the cars horn on the highway code. Not being able to use auto headlight's as the auto high beam was always on so I was either blinding people or if following another car it would sometimes flash at them so that was turned off. So I have paid for a car with features that I had to turn off or put with and then have the privilege to pay to put them right!! As Mark has said you do not pay for updates on anything Google or Apple related, none of my smart TVs ask for my payment nor does my Xbox or Nintendo switch. If MG thought their software was perfect they would not have listened to all the complaints and done something about it.
There you go rant over and yes I am so much happier with car now the update has been applied.
One question back to you. Why are you happy to defend MG and pay for the update.

Hi Allen. I see you are in Clenchwarton, is that near Kings Lynn? I have just had my ZS EV updated at W H Brand and have non of the changes you have mentioned. Have they got the update wrong??

As far as I know, the "update", is actually 4 different updates. Some are very simple and quick, one is is long-winded and takes (depending who you talk to) between 2 and 3 hours and involves being connected to MG's computer in China.

But I'm no expert...in fact I just can't get my head around most technology !

All I know is my car is much improved and my dealer who did it had been closed for months and I was one of his first paying jobs.....I don't begrudge him his £60 plus VAT. Especially if it helps keep him in business until I need him again in the future.

Hello yup just outside kings Lynn.
I used Donaldson MG in Stamford, I would have used the Peterborough dealership but they were not quite up and running.
Easy way to tell if update has been performed have you got temperature now displayed on top right on your media screen.
If not the update has not been applied but as crispydoc has said there are 4 updates to be done.
