I recently purchased a ZS EV Long Range.
I had a towbar fitted and tried towing with it for the first time. I attempted to reverse my trailer up a driveway and I stopped the car on a steep section as the trailer was nearing the rear of the carport.
The ZS EV then refused to move in reverse. I initially thought it may have been the extra weigh of ther trailer causing the car to "stall".
I was able to unhitch the trailer as it had reached level ground in the carport.
I then drove down the driveway and attempted to reverse up the drive without the trailer and the ZS EV still refused to move. The rear of the car raised as the handbrake began to release then the car "stalled". I even tried putting my foot flat on the accellerator with no response.
I drove to the bottom of the driveway and took the ZS EV forward up the driveway. It was fine.
I measured the angle. The steep section of the drive is around 1m rise every 5m.

Should I take the car to be checked by the dealer or is this normal reversing behaviour for ZS EV's?

not clear what's happening, the car no longer reverses at all or just on a steep bit? any warning lights?

Try putting it into towing mode and try again.

Is there a towing mode ???

No warning lights.
Car reverses OK.
However, If I stop on the steep section there does not appear to be enough torque to continue in reverse.
It appears fine going forward.

so the car simply won't move back on a steep slope?
the brakes would probably keep stronger grip on the slope and there would be a bit of extra power needed to move the car for the brake to release but it's probably time to go to your local MG garage ...

I had this for the first time in my MG4 last week. I stopped on a steep sloping driveway, perhaps 20% gradient, and the car would not reverse. I moved forwards on the driveway a few metres where the gradient was less, then was able to start reversing and continue up the steep part. I suspect it’s something to do with a peak current limit and interaction with the auto park brake.

Mine does this too when I reverse up my drive way, I normally just drive forward again then retry it and it usually works ok second time

I noticed similar in my MG4 Trophy this week but i was turning round in a small street and when the rear wheels got to the kerb the car just stopped, pressing the accelerator did nothing, wheels simply didnt turn. Had to move forward and 'bump' up onto the kerb.
