Hi,
No car yet, still waiting on delivery date!
However, got my quote for a Zappi charger to be installed in advance. (Expensive)
My quote has a non tethered unit. Does the ZS EV come with a lead as well as a granny charger?
And would you recommend tethered or not?

I have a tethered unit but it is in the garage and just the lead comes out under the door.
Get yourself a type2 lead, to keep in the car, unless you negotiated one as part of your car deal.

I had a tethered unit fitted, and in four years haven't regretted that choice. It is so easy to park and just plug/unplug, it takes seconds to coil the cable onto the holder, and off you go. The first time you have to unplug in the wet you'll know tethered was the way to go!

I’ve just checked my order form, and no mention of type 2 or granny lead!
I just assumed you got one as there is always 1 in a MG badged bag in the reviews. I’ll have to convince the dealer it needs to be in the boot when I collect it!

I went with tethered so I didn't have to keep getting the cable out the car. And no, unless you have a deal with the dealership the ZS does not come with a type 2 charger. (I also have the Zappi, but got it before the grant finished so only cost me a grand installed)

I’ve been quoted £1400 for the Zappi

I got ohme Pro for free in January but at the time they where £600 fitted and ovo changed my tails to 25mm and put a isolation switch in for free then National Power gave me a free temp 80amp fuse now on the 17th June there delooping me and 100amp fuse free so over all I am happy just takes a bit of time but mainly as neighbours refuse work apparently there is a law that over rides there wishes as they are looped to me and may cable is the supply hopefully its all sorted in a few weeks

Yeah that sounds about right, I had a 350 pound grant and a small discount so was 997 all in. Pod point are much cheaper and there are cheaper out there, but I heard such good things from other EV owners about the zappi

Ohme Home pro, decent price and tethered, mine too is in garage with lead coming under the door when car is not garaged.

What will be your use case for the car? I had a free Pod-Point charger fitted as it came free with my first EV (Ioniq 28kWh), and I very rarely use it. Most of my top up charging is with the granny charger either overnight or on solar when the sun shines. I also visit a free Tesco charger once a week when her in doors goes shopping in Burnham on Sea, where I use the type 2 cable.

I was just wondering if you actually need a wall charger if your daily commute is small.

I currently work part time with short journeys, but when I finish I expect to be using it more. My neighbour mainly uses his granny charger (Leaf) but has the wall charger for the occasional long trip.
It’s just to help avoid the messy inadequate public charging where possible, and make the best use of the solar.

To be honest if I have to wait 9 months for the car, I’m in no rush, but the longer I leave it the more expensive it will be.

What do you guys think about having an "Ohme go" on a commando socket all fitted in the garage, and running the charging cable under the garage door when in use?
The reason I'm asking is that the Ohme go is on offer with Octopus for £299, so with the commando, cable and other bits should come to about £450.
Can't get too much info on the 'go' so don't know if this would be any good as a setup.
