Starting our MG4 Trophy, you have to put into drive, back into park, then do it again.

Does anyone else have this issue. Ours used to be fine, but for the past fee months randomly if you sit down and put your foot on the brake it says ready. You out it I to reverse or drive and it doesn't do anything.

You put it into park again, press your foot on the break and it says ready again and does the whole click thing and starts AC etc. Then it works.

It's as though the first time sometimes says it's ready but isn't. I've tried it taking my time, doing it fast etc, makes no difference. A year ago it did it maybe 1% of the time but now I'd say it's like 60%.
I do get this quite a bit. It seems to be the car hasn’t fully booted. What I do now is press the remote to open the car before I’ve even opened the front door of the house, lock the house, amble to the car, get in, seat belt, press the brake once both screens are waiting to go. Doesn’t do it then. Bit of a pain when I want to leave in a hurry but what can you do ?‍♂️

Just accept the car is a pain. Mine seems to have "a run on issues". Currently it's failing to charge when I plug it in. I've sat inside the car and used the START CHARGING option in the battery screen but as soon as you open the door it stops and can only be re-started by using the app on the phone. Previously, it was "fasten seat belts". When I came to a stop and put the paking brake on it wouldn't drive when I pressed the accelerator. Fasten seat belts message would come up even though we'd been travelling for more than an hour (which I'm beggining to think is an achievement without something going wrong. There were no bags on the seats or anything making the car think (MG THINK two words not often seen together) theere was a passenger on the seat. It needs to go.

I've found a number of annoying bugs if you don't let the Infotainment system boot up before doing anything or if you lock and unlock the car is too quickly (I do this to get Android Auto to go in to night mode). On one occasion the screen locked completely with a message about the functions being available once the car is started (had to lock the car and wait an hour for it to reset), another is the new A/C drop down screen (R43 and above) becomes unresponsive if the manual A/C switch is left on when locking and unlocking, and another is the radio favourites don't display. So I have learnt some patience.

I have reported all these back to the dealer, I am not expecting any solution any time soon. Their software development version control and testing acceptance procedures are crap, but by all accounts so are a lot of the legacy car manufacturers. I think we will see things change over the coming years but don't hold your breath.
Hi, re the Android Night Mode issue. There is a very simple workaround, I found it accidently, all you need to do is plug your phone in and then toggle automatic lights off then on using the switch on the stalk. It forces the system to send a status change to Android Auto and it will set it to night mode (assuming it is night :) ) it will work at any point so no need to try to plug the phone in before the Infotainment screen has set it's display status. Hope that helps!
