I used to work for a company that made back up diesel/gas powered generators for hospitals etc should the mains supply go down .
I would like now to spend some of the massive profits the oil companies have just announced.
Could they or some company produce a small highly efficient clean diesel engine running a DC generator (100kw) or an AC with convertor to be situated on petrol forecourts for the use of EVs. I would guess most EVs could charge 80% in 40 -50 minuets for around 3 litres of diesel. These could be produced for around 30 grand cheap enough to put one on every forecourt they own. They would be in sound proofed enclosures operated by debit cards and the fuel is already on site.
We will face a situation where there are more EVs than suitable chargers and until there is enough green infrastructure in place, a relatively cheap stop gap approach would be needed .
Downsides are fossil fuel and we lose smugness, upsides, all of the technology is available ,most fore courts have shops / coffee on site and we know where they all are .
The initial start up costs and installation times would be minor compared to the costs reported for a dedicated EV station.
Lets face it ,we all want to get from A to B with the least hassle worry or queuing , so what do you think!
The figures I,ve quoted are pure guesswork.

I couldn't comment on the charging infrastructure in France as I have no detailed knowledge but I certainly couldn't see this getting any support in the UK.

A more environmentally option is what Tesla do. They have large batteries at their charging stations in containers, which I think are used car batteries, that charge up using the surplus electricity at night.

Is this really true?!!
