Managed to get into my local dealer for an update check before heading off to France.
They’re a Volvo/MG dealer but it had been in last month for a service so they said I’d be charged labour for checking and any updates as required.
On the day I explained I only wanted the updates if I didn’t need the module replacing.
After an hour or so on their WiFi, I was told my car had been updated and was ready. I asked if I could see a print out but they said it was all on the system - I didn’t want to push it as they’d just handed me the key and hadn’t mentioned payment!
Anyway, had a successful charge at an empty supercharger hub, though it was a bit slow, 35kW from 30%…

Tesla are super cheap though (I just subscribed to the monthly cost - £9) and will easily recoup that on this holiday.
The rate was 33p/kWh and I’d seen charges all the way up to 84p/kWh just up the road - Allegro!

Sorry, I don’t know. The first Tesla charge we did was only 35kW but we’ve just arrived in Nice and used a few Tesla chargers on the way down that were all faster- saw 81kW at one stage today.

Ah right, I've just read for MG5 "Rapid charging is possible through a CCS connection. The maximum rapid charge power is 87 kW"

I thought all MGs had the same charging capability.

Give it 10 years and we will all be getting charged in just a few minutes. (Probably?)

I don't think that is likely. Maybe at some motorway service stations but upgrading the grid to provide power at that sort of rate won't be easy and the cable that supplies that much power is going to be very heavy.

No I think the higher trim/battery MG4s are a bit faster than the others.

Not expecting to get more than 80-odd kW in our SE.

Haven't had much experience but I've only seen numbers in the vicinity of 70 kW.

Oh I don't know, plenty of vehicles today can already add 120 miles in 10 minutes!

From Tinternet...."Depending on how efficiently a car uses its charge, a 10-minute battery top-up at 270kW should add around 120 miles of range"

I've seen 140 kW in mine but that's only at the start and soon tails off sadly.

I expect my next vehicle in a couple of years would be knocking around the 250 mark.

For interest here's a list of fastest charging cars in the UK at the moment.

I've used Tesla supercharger on several occasions whilst travelling away from home, it very useful, easy and a lot cheaper as you say.
Not bothered signing up to their monthly programme as travelling further afield is not frequent enough, but we travel to Gatwick airport a few times a year, around 90 miles from home, I've used Cobham Services twice now, I charge to 90 or 95% so we don't need to charge on the way home, but also don't fall fowl of leaving the car for a month with less than 50% charge and risking flat 12v battery when we return, we've been lucky so far, but as an added insurance, I've bought an emergency 12v power pack, which is safely stowed under the drivers seat for easy access.
I've mentioned this before, but with so many new forum members I feel its worth repeating, ALSO a warning on storing the emergency battery pack, the boot is a definite NO as it's difficult to open the boot, with a flat battery, so I've chosen under the drivers seat to be the easiest accessible place.
I hope this helps some newer to the forum!

If this delivered 31kw in 27 minutes than that is equivalent to a charging rate of 69 kw per hour which is okay based on a max rate of 87kw per hour

Yeah, we have a battery jump pack too, when the cars first came out, people were having the 12v battery go flat because they only partially started the car (pressed start without foot on the brake) and ran it flat.
What I did find with the jump pack though was that it could run down over time so I left our permanently plugged into the second usb socket.
Have brought a better one now that doesn’t discharge so quickly.
