I thought they already did naturally degrade?I reckon this is the next big thing to address. I've seen some research on two fronts - devices to collect the particles produced as tyres wear (developed by a UK uni IIRC), but that means the particles are still "in the wild", you've got to do something with them. I've also seen research looking at ways of making tyres from more organic/biodegradable materials meaning the particles will naturally degrade.
