Good day all!!!

Having tried on numerous occasions to bind the car with no help from the dealer on my end. I sent the VIN etc to MG.Europe and they replied informing me that my TBox wasn’t activated and to let the dealer know. Forwarded that to the dealer who responded with “can you ask them for a guide on how to do that”. As you can imagine with a response like that I have no idea where to go from there, I did ask for a guide from mg Europe but in all fairness I don’t expect to get one. Does anyone know what I can do from there?

Unable to use app
Unable to use SatNav
Car functions well otherwise but it’s a feature that’s been paid for and I can’t use.

Thanks
Daniel

If you have other dealers within reach it may be worth phoning round some of them. Some dealers appear to be anything but helpful or knowledgeable unfortunately

Small island so only one Distributor controls the MG market and all the technicians had the same training. So the unified response is “That service isn’t available here” which we know isn’t accurate as the Infotainment system gets full signal 3G/4G depending on where you are, WiFi at home connects but as MG Europe says if the TBOX isn’t activated then it won’t register on the network. I have put it down to being akin to Mobile roaming, you’ve got signal but not registered on the local networks.

This is the activation screen I get if I de-register

Try this:
How to reactivate the MG4 head unit.
From the main screen, swipe left to the other screen and select “settings”
On the settings screen, select “system” from the list on the right hand side.
On the system screen, tap “Entertainment system” 5 times in quick succession,
this brings up a dialogue to enter a pin number.
Enter the pin number: 200519 this opens the Engineering mode page.
On the Engineering mode screen, select “Activate” on the right hand side this brings up another page. On the list on the left change “switch environment” from “/Current PP” to “/Current P” then exit that screen. Select activate again to check that the environment is still set to “/Current P” then select Activate at the top of the list then when it confirms activation, exit.
Note: WiFi must be connected to perform the above.
Exit engineering mode and go back to the main settings page and under activation the page should show the head unit as activated (blue). You can now activate the map underneath it if you haven’t already done so.

I see it’s already on P but the Telematic box log is greyed out and I’m getting GPS signal etc

Double and Triple checked and my menu doesn’t have Activate option, goes from System to Privacy Notice!!! I assume this is what MG meant when they said my car was shipped without Activation and I need to go to the Dealer to get it activated and the dealer still says they aren’t sure how to do it. Sigh

Welcome to the forum on a very difficult day! This is a perennial problem and I'm sure there are people it has happened to who will be able to help.

No luck, but while trying to check things I notice I don’t have the Activate option on my menu and my voice commands don’t work either! It’s telling me to allow this GDPR in system settings and that doesn’t show up either.
Update!!!
After changing the App Store to Australia/New Zealand on my iPhone (because the car thinks it’s there!) was able to download the app from that region and then did the PP/P CHANGE IN THE menu I was finally able to bind the car YAYY…..BUT the app shows my VIN and the new account info but am unable to actually do anything with the APP find car shows that I’m in Australia which of course I’m not and neither the charging info or anything else works from the app. Tried via WiFi with phone and car on the same WiFi network and no luck either. Wondering if I can change the cars region or if there is another setting.

So some progress but still a way to go

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Daniel

This seems to be the same issue I have with mine. LATAM cars for some reason don't have the tbox enabled. I was able to bind using the European version of the app, while connected to an external Wifi (since the in-car connection does not seem to link with any local provider), but nothing works inside the app. Can't get status, battery charge status, operate hvac, etc. I do have a few dealer options here (Chile) so I'm callign a few of them every other week to inquire about this, since MG itself is advertising iSamrt o ntheir website as being already available here.

Hello, Did you achieve do an activation dor the iSmart successfuly?

Hello, Did you achieve do an activation dor the iSmart successfuly?
After two failed attempts with MG technical team, with help from MG China technician, they enabled the iSmart for my car. But it lasted 4 days and then it stopped working. I am now trying to get another appointment from MG to review what's wrong. Service centers here don't have the training to do it, so they need to call MG every time.

I went to MG after nearly 2 years and 34,000 miles when my car stopped updating its clock, making emergency calls and showing up on the app. I booked it into MG saying I thought the modem / telecoms unit must have failed but the call centre lady thought 3 recalls for software updates would fix it. After 2 DAYS doing software recalls they tell me it needs a new T-box. When I ask the gentleman on the service desk what that is he says he doesn't know. I despair! Bristol Street Carlisle. Someone tell me if the T in T-box doesn't stand for telecoms?

I looked further down the google search and found a breaker selling a T-box - it is exactly as I thought a phone/modem/wifi unit!
